The sun was gradually setting as we strolled toward the dormitories.

"So, Ayanokoji-kun, with the information we received from those senpais, do you have any particular ideas about those class points?"

"Hmm, I don't think my theories hold much use yet; most lack substantial evidence to confirm their validity."

"I see. Well, we're almost there, so we'll have to discuss it tomorrow."

"You're right. By the way, can you share your contacts so we can reach out if we find anything important?"

"Sure, give me your phone then."

I handed her my phone, and she swiftly typed in her contacts, returning it to me.

"Thanks. Let's head in now."

Entering the dormitory, we quickly reached reception. After receiving our keys, Horikita prepared to say goodbyes, but I stopped her.

"Horikita, I wanted to ask you something before we part ways."

"What is it, Ayanokoji-kun?"

"When Kushida Kikyo introduced herself, I noticed something. When she said she was the only person from her school here, you changed your expression, if only for a second. I'm sure you did. The emotion on your face displayed at that moment was disgust. Horikita, did you know Kikyo before coming to this school?"

Finishing my sentence, she raised her eyebrows in surprise.

"So you noticed. Well, there's no point in denying. Yes, I know who Kikyo Kushida is. But let's continue this conversation in my room. I don't think we want someone eavesdropping."

"I agree. Lead the way."

After entering Horikita's room, it became apparent that it was quite spacious—approximately eight tatamis in size. There was no specific decor, fitting for a room visited by more than just me for the first time.

"Feel free to take a seat on the bed."

"I'll take you up on that offer. But before that, where should I place your groceries from the market?"

"Oh, you can put them on the table right here."

Horikita gestured to a table in the corner of the room. Once placed, I settled into the corner of her bed.

"So, can we continue our conversation now?"

I asked, tilting my head to express curiosity.

"Yeah, sure. By the way, I understand you struggle to show your emotions, so don't try to force it out. It looks even worse like this."

"You could've at least tried to be tolerant of my struggle."

To this, she smirked, rolling her eyes.

"We're getting off the main topic. Yes, I knew Kushida before we enrolled in this school. We were in the same junior high, but that's not my point. The issue is that if we don't stop or restrain her, the situation from junior high might happen again."

As she spoke, Horikita's expression darkened, hinting at unpleasant memories resurfacing.

"I assume something troublesome happened because of her?"

"Yes, it began almost the same. She was the angel of our school—helpful, caring, and always ready to assist anyone in need. The whole school loved her."

"But one day, her facade was ruined, right?"

"Yes, I don't know what the circumstances were, but after this, she left our junior high with hundreds of ruined lives and friendships behind her back."
