I continued waiting for my turn, Horikita seated beside me. Our conversation had been ongoing for a while, managing to maintain some level of interest for me.

"Without communication, there could be no cooperation or trust."

Horikita raised her eyebrow.

"And again, you're trying to justify your actions, aren't you, Ayanokoji-kun?"

"Ah, why is it always so hard to explain things."

"First, stop trying to act offended. You can't."

"Ouch."

On this, she smirked and continued.

"Second, Ayanokoji, now I'm serious. I know that the way you planned it is effective, but are you sure it will work properly?"

'Why is it always so troublesome.'

"I don't like expending more effort than I have to. This leads only to the overextension of thoughts, and I see no need for this. Furthermore, if we refer to my sentence before, I do think that simple plans with good communication are more efficient than complicated ones preformed by one person."

After my monologue, she put a thinking expression on her face, lazily moving her legs in the water.

Shortly after, she shifted her gaze back at me.

"I see. Well then, let's hope it works out as you planned."

A comfortable silence enveloped us as we continued to wait for my race to start.

"Last race is about to begin, all boys who are yet to perform, gather near the pool!"

As our teacher gathered all the boys who had not yet participated, I walked lazily over to them, my gaze scanning the four students, including myself. Miyake Akito, part of the Archery club, if I recall. Kouenji Rokusuke, AKA Mr. Perfect Existence, and a boy whose surname I instantly forgot, named Yukimura, who's good at academics, if I remember correctly.

While we prepared to start, Kouenji sent me a "generous" look of probably slight interest?

"Hmm, Ayanokoji boy, my suspicions were correct in the end, not that they could be wrong."

"Would you mind enlightening me on your suspicion then?"

On this, he made a wide smile and said,

"To someone like you, I can tell my suspicions, Ayanokoji boy. As a prefect existence, as I am stated before, my theory about you being one of the strongest people in the class is confirmed."

I raised my eyebrows in question.

"And what do you mean by that?"

"I suppose you continue playing naive, Ayanokoji boy, huh? Well then, such a perfect existence as I am will honor you and elaborate on my point."

"You're not on a lunch break, boys. Get ready!"

Interrupted by our teacher, Kouenji smirked and said,

"In any case, I want to see your true strength, Ayanokoji boy, so don't hold back. You can be sure that such a majestic human being as I am can handle this competition with you."

"Kouenji. Don't worry about it. Good luck in the race."

He smirked.

"This goes for you as well, Ayanokoji boy."

We nodded to each other, with him giving one last laugh before the start.

"Ready..."

"Steady...."
