Book 2 - The Sea of Monsters: Chapter 6: Rescuing the Sisters

Sea of Monsters, 4:00pm

Percy POV

We encountered many sea serpents, Ceti, on the ocean.

Most were harmless, but we caught one for the meat.

We obviously were still going full speed when we did it.

The islands in the Sea of Monsters are Circe's, Polyphemus's, Sirens', Hephaestus's forge & Laestrygonians'.

The last is probably abandoned, but it wouldn't hurt to bombard it if we pass by it.

The sea monsters that could be a threat are:

Carthaginian Cetus, but Commodus has that as his personal war pet, so unless he's here, we don't have to worry about it.

The twin Ceti, Trojan & Ethiopian, are a whole other issue.

Fighting both at once would be unpleasant, but Jason confirmed that they were guarding Mt. Othrys from Sea based threats.

He went to Aeolus for the exact location on a sea monster traveling around the San Francisco Bay between Mt. Othrys & Camp Jupiter & he learned their names, weakness & how to kill them.

That leaves Skolopendra. I'm pretty sure they're saving that for later in the war, but I'm not sure.

I was currently walking around since I'm not supposed be helping & only observing.

I was passing the boiler room where I saw Clarisse & Ares talking.

She was standing at attention giving her report.

Ares: "That's my girl. Keep up the good work. At ease & get over here."

She relaxed & then they hugged.

I was going to keep walking, but Ares noticed me.: "Perseus, try not to overshadow your distant cousin." He says gesturing to me to join.

Me: "I'll try great ancestor." I say joining the hug.

We separated & he left.

Me: "He's right. You're doing a great job. You're a great commander, with the mind of a leader."

Clarisse: "Stop! I'm not a daughter of Athena." she says blushing.

Athena's Palace, Mt. Olympus, 4:15 pm

Athena POV

Me: "Wish she was."

Sea of Monsters, 4:20 pm

Percy POV

As we returned, Castor approached us: "Unless there are multiple resorts in the Sea of Monsters, we've found Circe's Island. We've notified Jason. He awaits your call, before discussing plans."

Clarisse: "I'll be right there."

As he left, I turned to her: "I want to go there. I'm the only one with magic rivaling Circe's, but as a stowaway I need your permission."

Clarisse: "Take Annabeth with you. If you & the Romans aren't done in 4 hours, we're nuking the island."

We confirmed it with Jason & he sent Hazel with us.

We got on a lifeboat & made our way there.

Given that pets were allowed, Hazel brought her mount, as the romans had 10 War Ostriches to use.

The fact that they don't have Pegasi is weird to me.

As we approached the receptionist that was clearly the elder sister we were here for, she looked at us, like we're crazy for a moment, before composing herself.
