Book 2 - The Sea of Monsters: Chapter 7: Slaying the Cyclops

Percy POV

We entered the dining hall for breakfast.

Hephaestus/Vulcan had approached Clarisse & Jason in a dream & offered to upgrade the armor of the 20 & their mounts, so we're going there next.

We should be there by 10 & it's only 10 minutes from Polyphemus's Island.

The gods normally can't interfere with quests, but the war has heavily loosened those restrictions.

Travis: "This Cetus caviar & deep-fried meat is really good. You'd never guess based on what it is."

Connor: "Just like most people would never guess that you're 10 months older & we're not actually twins."

Everyone choked on what they were eating.

Travis: "Yeah. That never gets old."

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that they were.

Annabeth & Tyson: "You look identical!" they exclaimed in shock.

They shrugged.

Hephaestus's Island, Sea of Monsters, 10:00am

We docked & pulled into the port.

Hephaestus, or someone that looked like him, was waiting for us.

???: "I am Sethlans, the Etruscan Hephaestus/Vulcan. Since You're a mixture of Greek & Roman, I decided to go with a neutral face. Bring the 2 elephants, 6 Pegasi & 10 Ostriches to land, then follow me."

We followed him into his forge where he took everybody's measurements.

I'm guessing he got Annabeth's from Athena.

The cyclopes near my home took mine.

He does it behind a privacy barrier, so they can strip down to get the most accurate measurements & create the most comfortable & functional armor.

I turned to see Clarisse sitting down next to me & Annabeth after getting her measurements done.

Clarisse: "Do you have any idea on who will get their cabin next?" she asks, making small talk.

Me: "If he is finally made an Olympian & given a Greek counterpart, Summanus would be the new Cabin 7, as he is the twin brother of Tinia, Zeus's Etruscan form."

???: "Indeed, I am."

We turned to see someone that looked identical to Zeus, but with a blue tie, black button down & White suit jacket.

Summanus: "I hope to get my Greek & Roman forms one day, but as I chose to be in hiding until the rise of the Etruscan civilization, I'm not getting my hopes up."

Annabeth: "You were in hiding, because if the gods lost the Titanomachy, you could launch a rescue mission for them. You also never went out to cause trouble like Hestia."

Summanus: "But that came at the cost of making me unknown to the masses." He sounded remorseful.

Clarisse: "Will you please stop feeling sorry for yourself?! You can't change the past! Try to make a better future for yourself & others!"

Me: "I would have worded it better, but I agree with the message. You can't play the victim forever."

He chuckled.: "Thank you. I needed to hear that." He left.
