Book 2.5 - The Stolen Chariot

Percy POV

The Athena Cabin's propaganda all but guarantees Clarisse's election in winter.

As I was studying in class, I saw Clarisse run by chasing after Ares's chariot.

I excused myself & chased after her by using my teleportation powers to summon Blackjack.

After I pulled her up, we gave chase, but were quickly lost.

Clarisse: "I am supposed to be taking care of my dad's War Chariot and needs to get it back to his temple by sundown. However, my immortal brothers, Deimos and Phobos, have stolen the chariot."

Me: "Why not just tell your dad?"

Clarisse: "I did. He's busy, because the Cercopes caused a lot of trouble for him. It was apparently their idea."

I prayed to Aphrodite.

Aphrodite: "We're in the Staten Island Zoo."

We made our way there & found the 2 brothers apologizing, with Aphrodite holding them by their ears.

We saw the Elephants were being mistreated & called Rachel to have them relocated.

Me: "Can we borrow Laelaps to catch the monkey men?"

Aphrodite: "I'll ask Athena." She closes her eyes. "She says he'll be here soon."

Sure enough, the ultimate hunting dog appeared.

We followed it in the chariot as Blackjack was rode back to Camp by Aphrodite.

Given that 2 appear at a time but have different names each time, there's either multiple Cercopes or they keep changing their names.

We found 2.

We shot our bows at both.

I hit the 1 that was having his leg bitten into, while she got the other.

She prayed to her father, who was about to take the 2 to Olympus, but I decided to wait to see if there were any more running around causing trouble.

If there were, Laelaps couldn't find them.

176. Percy finds that the Elephants at the Zoo are being mistreated & has Dare Enterprises relocate them to both Camps.

177. Laelaps is used to catch the brothers.

178. Cercopes were the ones that convinced the 2 to steal the chariot.
