The cold night air nipped against Anakin's tunic, stinging the cuts that lay underneath. His muscles ached and his face was unusually wet and sticky. A couple drips fell into his parted lips, tainting his salvia with a metallic aftertaste. The Jedi was no doubt bleeding but he didn't care. The battle had been rough and they had suffered many casualties. Sadly yet another kink in his golden reputation
Anakin took a deep breath and wiped his hand across his temples. He brought his fingers down suddenly to find a sticky red liquid coating to his coarse skin. The Knight groaned. The last thing he needed was a trip to their makeshift medical bay. Which was simply two tents, lined to the brim with groaning men and nauseous medics.
The Jedi scanned his surroundings, blinking a couple times to clear his vision. He would never admit it but his head was throbbing, Anakin was no medic but he knew what a concussion felt like. He's had plenty of experiences with head trauma before.
"General!"
Anakin spun around, instantly regretting the sudden movement.
"Have you found the Commander?"
The Knight squinted his eyes trying to make out the blurry figure in front of him. He could barely make out the jaig eyes engraved on the trooper's helmet.
"Rex?" Anakin asked, rubbing his eyes wearily.
The Captain stared at his General, noticing the slow trickle of blood seeping from his hairline. "Are you ok, sir?"
"Yeah. It's just a scratch." He reached up to rub his temples, disappointed at the amount of blood his hand accumulated. It was definitely not just a scratch.
"Are you sure you don't want to go see Kix?" Rex asked, wincing at the amount of blood oozing out of his forehead. "I can go find the Commander and make sure she's alright."
Anakin sighed. "I'm fine Rex. I'll go find Ashoka." He was her master after all, she was his responsibility.
Rex nodded and slowly backed up. If the General wouldn't go see Kix then he'd have to bring the medic to him.
The Knight watched Rex migrate towards the medbay and he almost wanted to go with him. Almost. But Ahsoka was more important than a mere concussion. Anakin turned back around and walked towards one of the biggest tents in the camp. Him and Ahsoka both shared the tent and since they've been on this siege for about a week now, hopefully he could make it without being able to see straight.
By some miracle he actually made it to their tent without falling on his face. Anakin squinted looking for the zipper to the flappy green tent. Once he had finally found it he quickly crawled inside making sure to not trip over his hands. The Knight looked around, his eyes scanning the area for his small Padawan.
"Ahsoka?" Anakin yelled, slowly standing up and holding onto one of the tent poles for balance.
No response.
Anakin groaned and closed his eyes. His head was pounding and the light from the lanterns were definitely not helping. Suddenly his comm beeped, the noise making him wince in pain.
Anakin's hands fiddled over the answer button. "Skywalker here."
"We found the Commander. The Captain said you were looking for her?"
The Jedi's head hurt too much to make out who the voice belonged to. "What's your position?"
"It's Kix."
Anakin's heart plummeted. How could he have been so blind? He tried to reach out in the force but all he received was another blinding bolt of pain. He couldn't sense Ahsoka's force signature due to his kriffing concussion. The Knight pressed the comm again. "What happened? Is she okay?"
