Hey everyone, I've finally been able to post again! I'm really sorry that I've been so inactive, I've been really busy lately. :(
But anyways, I really hope you enjoy this story!!Red, hot, anger seared through Rex's veins as he marched across the hangar. Voices rang throughout his ears, but the Captain paid them no mind. He only had one target in mind, the yellow clad trooper standing in the center, shouting orders around like he ran the place.
Well he technically did- but that wasn't the point.
A couple more blue painted clones passed by Rex, all nodding their heads in acknowledgement- knowing fully well where their beloved Captain was going. But who was to stop a batchmate from embracing their older brother? No one would ever dare to step between an angry clone on a mission. Especially when that so-called brother was the crazy, yet somehow more sensible than the rest of Torrent Company, Captain.
The yellow clone in the middle moved again, this time with a little hop in his step and a shake of his head before yelling more orders. His voice shook the whole hangar, ordering around veterans and shinies who knew what that voice meant.
Rex stopped a couple feet away from his brother and grimaced at the sight that stood before him. It was Cody, no doubt, but saying he looked a little worse for wear was a huge understatement. His helmet was stained a deep brown, his chestplate was red with dried blood, and his right leg's armor was completely gone- showing the barely held together blacks underneath.
The Captain knew Cody would never go to the medbay unless absolutely necessary- and Rex couldn't even count the amount of times he'd found the Commander hiding a broken limb in the safety of his quarters. And Rex hated having to manhandle his brother with the audience of both of their battalions- but desperate situations called for desperate measures.
So everything would be fine. Right?
Suddenly all the jaw breaking fury was gone and replaced by a sudden need to take care of his brother. Rex was definitely going to lecture him though, not one of Rex's batchmates would ever pull such a life-threatening, stupid, maneuver without having a thorough scolding. And yes- Rex was fully aware he was the youngest of his adopted Command Batch- but he honestly didn't care.
He was the only sane vod'ika of the batch, and that title came with a very important job.
"Cody." Rex said firmly, hiding his aggressive fury underneath his skin. He could let that beast out later, for now he had to be the logical one.
The Commander stopped his hollering for a brief minute to turn his gaze to his youngest brother, taking in the blue painted plastoid and counting the new scratches plaguing his armor. It wasn't every day he'd get to see his favorite vod'ika, and he had to make sure he wasn't hallucinating.
And yes, Cody had hallucinated before- just ask Helix.
"Rex?" Cody asked, still staring at his brother. "Aren't you supposed to be on the Resolute?"
Rex huffed. As if he would stay cooped up in his own flagship when half of his battalion and his crazy life-sacrificing, di'kut, of a brother was on the neighboring ship.
As if.
"Cody," Rex responded, tacking on his best convincing tone. "Why don't you take a break, and come over to the medbay and get checked out?"
The whole hangar seemed to freeze as those last words slipped from Rex's mouth. He honestly shouldn't have been surprised, by now the whole 212th and the 501st probably knew about the Marshal Commander's intense hatred of the medbay. No one ever argued against Cody about anything medical unless it was one of his batchmates, General Kenobi, or Helix.
