The next morning Daphne and Tracey accompany Sophia to breakfast, she's surprised they want to be seen with her. Yes, they had stuck up for her last night but she thought perhaps they didn't spend the whole night arguing, so it made her feel a whole lot happier about being in Slytherin.
She manages to have something decent to eat for breakfast instead of just nibbling. Then they head to their first class, double transfiguration.
When they arrive at the transfiguration class Daphne and Tracey sit together so the only seats available are on her own, next to Pansy or next to Hermione, so of course she chooses Hermione.
Hermione looks shocked, "Are you sure it's a good idea for you to sit next to me?"
Sophia frowns, "Why, do you not want me to?"
She shook her head frantically, "No I don't mind, like we said friends no matter what and I meant it regardless of you being a Slytherin. I just don't want them to give you a hard time for sitting by me."
She shrugs taking the seat, she could feel the other Slytherins burning holes into her back with their eyes but she couldn't care less, "It's either this or sitting next to Pansy and she already against me being a Slytherin so that isn't going to happen."
"Have they all been against you?"
"Surprisingly no. I have made friends with two of the girls, Daphne and Tracey, it's just Pansy and Millicent I have to be wary of. I haven't had any dealings with the boys or older years yet so that's something to look forward to," She giggles as McGonagall walks in and sets them to work. Harry and Ron arrived ten minutes late.
She ends up spending the break time with Hermione, then her next class is with Ravenclaw and to her disappointment the only seat left is next to Draco. She mentally prepares herself as she draws nearer to the desk and sits.
He frowns as she sits next to him and gets her book out, she feels his frown turn into a glare. She endures it at first while the teacher is talking informing them that the person are sitting next to is their partner for the rest of the end, great!
The teacher set the task and everyone got on, chatting with their classmate. She starts to find Draco's glare irritating but he still hasn't said a word. She sighs, "I know you want to say something so just say it," She finally pluck up the courage to look at him.
His glare turns to a sneer, "What makes you think you can sit next to me?"
Annoyed by the situation she matches his arrogant tone, "Where else am I meant to sit and don't say on the floor."
"Why? Are you going to do something about it if I do? And you can't talk to me like that, I'll make sure my father hears about this."
She rolls her eyes, "I just did and go running to daddy for all I care at least I'd know you're not man enough to fight your own battles."
He looks shocked that she spoke to him like that and in all honesty so is she. Being in Slytherin is rubbing off on her already and she hasn't even been in the house 24 hours yet, Merlin help me.
He doesn't say anything so she continues, "Look I know you don't like me but we're stuck together for the rest of the year. We can either agree to be civil for this lesson only or just spend it in silence until we have to speak to each other. I know which one I'd prefer but I'll let you choose I can live with either."
"Why would I want to be civil with you?"
She sighs once again, "Fine, we'll spend it in silence then." She works through the task and so far she's found the work at this school easier than she thought it would be, beats muggle lessons.
