It's the last week of the school year and Sophia has managed to keep her secret, well secret. She's kept away from Draco when possible and spent most of her time with Daphne and Tracey.
She's currently in the courtyard with Daphne and Tracey, it's a warm sunny afternoon and the last Sunday before they all go home next Saturday for the summer.
Hermione comes over to her, "Why have you been ignoring me?" Since finding out she's a Malfoy Sohpia has been avoiding Hermione too, "We promised we'd be friends no matter our house. I never imagined you could be like the other Slytherins."
"That's not fair," Sophia stands pulling Hermione away from her friends, "I don't tease or taunt you. But I'm ignoring you because you won't like me when you know who my biological family is."
"Just tell me," Hermione growls in frustration, "I won't hate you."
"You will, I know you will so just forget the promise we made because the moment you know you'll forget it too," She goes back to her friends grabs her stuff and goes inside leaving Hermione feeling hurt.
Reaching the dungeons she hopes it will be empty but of course, luck is against her and the entire common room is empty except for Draco of all people.
He doesn't see her walk in she could have walked straight through and to her dormitory except
she spots Apollo on his lap, "Is he bothering you?"
Draco looks up from the letter he's writing sneer on his face, he looks past her checking they're not being watched before letting the sneer drop, "No, he's fine although I don't know why he keeps coming to me, every time I sit here he curls up on my lap."
She has a feeling she knows the answer to that one, Apollo must be able to sense that they are related, "Well it has been almost a year he must know the people he can trust," She sits in the seat across from him, "Why you stuck in here it's nice out?"
"Need to write this letter to my mother."
She decides to pry a little curious about her biological family, "Do you have any siblings?"
He frowns, "Why do you ask?"
"I was just wondering, sorry I didn't mean to pry," She does.
"It's just a sore subject for my family," His eyes become dazed and sad, "I did have a sister, a twin sister in fact, but she was taken from her crib the night we were born. My mother and father searched for her but whoever took her shielded themselves with a spell to remain undetected. My parents still search for her to this day but she must be dead because she would have come to Hogwarts this year if she were still alive."
She doesn't know what to say she's spent the last few months being selfish but she still can't get the words the leave my mouth, "I'm so sorry. Let me take Apollo, you can get on with your letter in peace then," She takes him off Draco's lap and takes Apollo up to her dorm.
------
The school year comes to an end and despite Slytherin house originally being in first place, Gryffindor ends up winning the house cup thanks to Professor Dumbledore awarding Neville, Ron, Harry and Hermione 170 points between them, something to do with a philosopher's stone and Lord Voldemort.
All the students head for the train the next day and it sets off for London once everyone is on board. Sophia sat in a compartment with Daphne and Tracey of course.
She leaves the compartment to get out of her school robes and into her casual stuff, as she makes her way back a hand grabs her arm and pulls her into an empty compartment, "What?!" She turns to the person, "Hermione? What are you doing?"
"I know who they are," She states completely ignoring Sophia's question, "Your family, you're a Malfoy!"
"Shh," Sophia puts a hand over Hermione's mouth, "How do you know that?"
"When you took back to the book you've been hogging all year, I went through and found the page you'd marked the corner on. Your Sophia Malfoy, it makes sense. The white-blonde hair and blue eyes, it explains why you and Draco look so similar. Wait, that would make him your twin brother."
"Damn you for being so smart," Sophia sighs thought slightly relieved that someone knows besides Dumbledore and McGonagall, "See, I told you you'd hate my biological family so go, I know you don't want to be friends with a Malfoy."
Hermione laughs, "You're so wrong, I don't hate you for your family and I do still want to be friends. I want back the friendship we had at the beginning of the school year. You're nothing like the Malfoy's and I don't believe you ever could be like them. I understand if eventually you want to know them but if you're okay with it I'd still want to be friends. It hurt you ignoring me but I can understand now."
Sophia pulls Hermione into a hug, "Thank you and I'm sorry I ignored you. You have no idea how good it feels to know that I have someone to talk to about this now. Promise me you won't tell anyone though."
"I promise. Are you going to tell Draco?"
"Eventually," She tells Hermione about the conversation she had with him in the Slytherin common room, "He looked so sad. They were waiting for this year, hoping their daughter would turn up and I kept it from them. I will tell them but not until we go back to Hogwarts at least."
Hermione nods, "I understand. I best get back but you have my address and my home number so ring me and send letters over the summer, we can have a proper catch-up and get our friendship back."
"Okay. Have a good summer," Sophia leaves the compartment and heads back to Daphne and Tracey, feeling a lot brighter.
