5th June 1980

It's the dead of night, a time when most should be asleep. Pacing up and down the hallway outside their bedroom, he listens as his wife cries out again and again until the sound of a crying baby replaces her. He stops in front of the double doors staring at them until they open and a midwife exits, "You can come in now."

His feet don't move a sense of uncertainty comes over him, something he doesn't feel often, "Well are they..."

"Mother and both babies are in perfect health," She smiles and steps to the side letting him pass.

He moves past her this time and stops just short of the bed, his wife is sitting up in bed holding a bundle of blankets, he frowns, "She said..."

A cough to his left interrupts him, another midwife holding a second bundle of blankets, "Would you like to hold her, Sir?"

"Two?" He looks to his wife dumbfounded by this turn of events.

"Twins dear," His wife confirms smiling, "That little dear was born a few moments after her brother here," She gestures to the baby boy in her arms.

"A girl?" He whispers taking his daughter in his arms, "There hasn't been a girl in my side for generations."

He sits on the bed beside his wife getting a look at his son in her arms, "And twins are unheard of."

Looking down at his children he couldn't be happier. A son, the heir he needed of course but more importantly a boy he can raise into a fine man. But a girl is something he never dreamed of, she even brings a smile to his face, forming a special place in his heart that only a daughter can create.

"No twins on my side either but I am one of three girls so that was bound to have some effect. They need names," She reminds her husband.

After going back and forth for a bit they decide on their names, their birth certificates are created and the news of the twin's arrival is sent to their family and friends.

They'd barely been asleep two hours when cries came from the twin's crib, getting up to tend to her babies she found a dark shadow of a man standing over the crib a bundle in hand. She gasps, "Get away!"

Her shouts wake her husband, he puts himself between his wife and the man in an instant, raising his wand to him.

"Can you hurt me without hurting your daughter?" The man speaks though not a voice either of them recognises.

The husband falters lowering his wand knowing the man is right, "Put her down this instant."

The man does the opposite and steps behind from the crib his wand now in hand, "Expelliarmus," He knocks the husband back off his feet and disappears in a cloud of smoke.

"No," The wife cries going over to the crib and seeing only her son remaining.

"Sophia. Time to get up," Sophia's mum knocks on her door.

"I'm up," She throws her duvet back and bounces out of bed excited for the day ahead. Sophia shoves her feet into her slippers, lifts her grey Ragdoll cat, Apollo, off the bed and heads downstairs.

In the kitchen, she finds her mum making breakfast and her dad sat at the table reading the newspaper.

"Morning," She sits in the chair across from her dad, putting Apollo down by his bowl.

"Good morning, love. Happy birthday!" Her Mum smiles placing a plate of food in front of her and her dad then goes back for her plate.

"Thanks, Mum," Today is her 11th birthday.
