☁️ Butterflies or an Explosion? ☁️

It was a bright sunny day on the boiling isles and Bonesburrow was bustling. Over in the market was a specific witch, her griffin close behind her. "Well, whatcha want Puddles?" The griffin seemed particularly invested in a specific bag of seeds. "Alright, we'll take this one sir, thank you!" After paying, Viney placed the package into her bag, quickly grabbing a few and feeding them to her griffin. While the two walked, there was some music coming from town square. Once in view, Viney saw one of her oldest friends, Skara. The witch played a harp for the nearby demons and witches of all kinds. ''That music is beautiful, almost as beautiful as her..' Viney thought to herself. She quickly shook away her thoughts and walked up to the bard, wanting to say hello. Once the song was over, Skara noticed her friend and quickly put away her instrument. Moments later she hugged Viney. "Hey Vines!" "Hi Skara." Viney smiled as Skara took a step back. "Your getting good at playing that." "Well, I have been practicing. Gotta get good to play for my students and all."  "Yeah." "Oh, heya Puddles!" Skara hurried over to scratch and pet the griffin. "He absolutely loves you." "You think? I'm not a huge animal person." "Yeah I'm sure. Wanna hang out? Maybe practice some flyer derby while we're at it?" "Sure thing! I wonder if Willow would wanna join us for extra practice?" "Oh- uh I think she's busy today." "Hm, well, you know her better than I do. So, where to?" "How about Maya's diner?" "Sure!"

The two walked for a while before reaching the diner. "Puddles, buddy, you'll have to stay out here, sorry." He seemed a bit down but immediately became distracted by some butterfly off in the distance. "Don't cause too much trouble!" Viney yelled as Puddles ran off. The two witches walked into the diner and got a booth. Soon enough a waitress came, asking for orders. Once the two ordered they dug into conversation. "So, what classes are you teaching again?" Skara asked. "Y'know, beastkeeping and healing." "Which one's your favorite?" "Mm, probably beastkeeping. But only because Puddles gets to help out." "Heh, I thought he was your assistant in healing though?" "He is, but beastkeeping is just more fun. And, your teaching bards, right?" "You betcha. My students are so sweet!" "Hah, jealous. My students are chaos. Kinda reminds me of when I was in hexside." "Yeah, you caused havoc everywhere you went." "Hey! I was not that bad." "Go ahead and lie to yourself." "Yeah, yeah." After talking for a little while longer, the food arrived and the two ate. Finishing their meals, the two had a friendly argument over who would pay. After losing to a game of rock paper scissors, Skara admitted defeat and allowed Viney to pay for the meal.

Once outside the two had to first look for Puddles before going to practice. Once they found him, Viney hopped onto the griffin while Skara hopped onto her staff. The two had a race to the hexside field. Once they arrived, and Skara won the race due to Puddles getting distracted, they used magic to get changed into their uniforms. Each read somewhere on their uniforms, "Emerald Entrails" in some sort of fashion. The two laughed and practiced for around 2 hours before becoming exhausted. The day grew to an end and they split up, each heading to their own homes. Viney opened her front door and let Puddles in before the shutting the door behind them.

- Viney POV -

I shut the door and walk over to fill up Puddles food bowl. Once done, I walk over to the living room, my boots go onto the floor and I can finally relax. After scrolling on Penstagram for a while, I get up and ready for bed. I walk up the stairs, get dressed, and go to brush my teeth. Once done, I enter my bedroom to see Puddles curled up on the end of the bed. "Night Puddles." I crawl into bed and shut off my bedside table's light. I curl up and close my eyes, not remembering much after that.. except for the dream.

I wake up in an abyss. "Puddles? Puddles! Hello! Anyone?" Silence. Until I hear footsteps behind me, I turn to see Skara. "Skara? What are you doing here?" "I don't know, do you?" "No, but since your here.." There's a bright flash and all of a sudden we're are in a grassy field with a sky full of stars above us. "Wow." Skara awes. "Sorry, what were you saying?" "Oh! N-nothing! It's nothing." "Well, if you say so." Skara turns back to admire the stars above the us. I look up as well. "Oh, wow. It's, beautiful." The two of us sit down and admire the sight above us. "Hey Skara?" "Yeah Viney?" "Can I tell you something?" "Yeah, totally!" "Well, okay, It's completely fine if you don't feel the same, and I hope we can stay friends if that the case. What I'm trying to say is.. I like you, a lot. Like a lot, a lot. And.. I want to k Ow if you want to be more than just friends?" There's a few moments of silence before Skara smiles. "Viney.. I feel the same." "Seriously?" "Yeah, you make me happy. Like a lot, a lot." We both laugh, "So does that mean we can.." Skara nods. I place a hand on her face, however there's a beeping in the distance. Then another bright light, so blinding that I quickly cover my eyes.

I sit up and turn to my alarm clock, signaling that it's 8am. I stop and think about what just happened, well that's about enough proof as I need. I groan but Puddles quickly nuzzles me which causes me to laugh. "Your probably hungry, cmon let's get you breakfast." We go downstairs and I fill Puddles bowl. I stop to look in the mirror at my messy hair. "Where the heck is he hair clip?" I search for it and soon find it in the bathroom and put my messy hair up after brushing it. I put on my earring and find my boots, getting ready to head out. Puddles finishes his breakfast and runs over to the door, waiting for me. "Cmon Puddles." I open the door and walk out, met with the light of the sun nearly blinding. I hear my scroll ping and check to see that none other than Skara had messaged me. I open up the message, it reads, "Hey, I'm free today, wanna hangout?" "Totally" "Yay! Meet me at town square!" "Alright, cya there." ":)"

I hop onto Puddles and we fly to town square. Once we land I tell Puddles to go play while I look for Skara. After searching for around 10 minutes, I spot her leaning against a wall glancing around. Once we make eye contact she runs over and hugs me. I start feeling butterflies. "Hey, Skara." "Heya Viney! I was thinking we could head to the carnival that's in town for a few days! What do you think?" "Sure!" The two of us hurry to the part of town hosting the carnival. "Ooh! Let's go on some rollercoasters!" Skara exclaims, pointing to the rollercoasters ahead of us. "If you say so." I respond, following behind as Skara hurries to the coaster section.

- Narrator POV -

The two spend the day with laughs, good memories and a newfound liking towards one another. The day soon comes to a close and there is one ride the two have not gone on. In front of them stand the Scarris Wheel. Skara leads Viney and her butterflies become stronger. The ride begins and it is soon dark out. The only light coming from the stars, vaguely illuminated the night sky. Viney turns to look at Skara, blush creeping onto her face. "Hey- uh Skara? There's been something I've been meaning to ask you.." "Really? What is it?" Viney takes a deep breath. "You know how much you mean to me as a friend, and I love our friendship so much, but.. lately I've hoped for something more. I don't really know how to put this, so I'll say it straight. Skara, I like you. More than a friend." There's a long silence and Viney turns to face the floor of their cart. "Viney.. I cannot believe this.." Viney's face drops. "I've been wanting to tell you the same thing for ages!" "Wait.. what?" Viney turns to look at Skara, complete shock written on her face. "If you really mean it, then can we be.." "Girlfriends? Titan yes." "In that case.. can I..?" Viney places a hand on Skara's face. "Yes, yes you can." The two ,wet each others lips, lost is bliss. Fireworks shoot off not too far away, making the moment even more enchanting. When they pulled away, they stared into each other's eyes. Skara leans into Viney, Viney placing her arm around her now girlfriend, the two sharing this memorable moment which would leave a mark in each of their lives forever. Love can be butterflies or an explosion.
