The five teenagers got home with the help of the police.

They were right at the Fisher's house door. ''well, knock then'', one of the officer's said. Blake sighed but did what the officer said.

It didn't go a second before it opened up. Revealing a furious Laurel. Blake smiled at her. ''Laurel, hey how's it going?''. She shook her head at the boy. ''it went fine before I got a call about you five. Coming home being escorted by the police. Just get in'', she ordered.

Everyone went inside.

Laurel began to thank the officers and apologize for the kid's behaviour.

Blake was more focused on the ground, until someone bumped his shoulder. He looked up to see it was Steven. ''look man I'm sorry about what I said at dinner and at the beach. I didn't know you felt it that way with your dad''.

Blake waved him off. ''it's okay Steven. It's not your fault. I shouldn't have said anything, I was exaggerating. Don't worry Stevo''. He held his hand in a fist bump. Blake smiled and gave him a fist bump.

All of them heard a thud. They looked up to see Laurel just closing the door and looking at them.

''how could you guys be so irresponsible?''. Steven stepped forward. ''mom it wasn't a big deal, seriously. It was just a harmless party. The cops just wanted an excuse to break the bonfire''.

Laurel scoffed at her son's words. ''not a big deal, huh?''. ''yes, not a big deal''. She crossed her arm. ''I would say it's a big deal when you're getting picked up by the cops for underage drinking, Steven''.

Suddenly Blake sniffed. Laurel looked at him and saw his pupils weren't themselves, instead divided. Realization hit her. ''did you guys smoke tonight?'', she asked while her eyes were on Blake.

Belly spoke up. ''what?'', she said rather loud. ''shhh. Susannah's on the couch, sleeping. So, be a little quiet''.

''she wasn't yelling. You, kind of were Laurel'', Blake defended. ''answer my question''. Jeremiah held his hand up for defence. ''look Laurel, I didn't drink or smoke tonight. I was the dd, I swear''.

Blake rolled his eyes. ''well, I did. I smoked and drank. Happy?'', he answered truthfully. She looked at the middle Fisher boy. ''why?''. He shrugged. ''doesn't matter'', he replied.

She looked from Blake and to Conrad. Seeing his pupils were a little out too. Which meant he also had a few hit. ''you're the oldest Conrad. What the hell's gotten into you?''.

Conrad didn't answer, so she took her gaze upon her daughter. ''and you? When did you even leave the house and what in the hell are you wearing'', she pointed at the outfit.

Belly tried to cover herself up a little. ''it's Taylor's and why I am I the only one who's not allowed to go out?'', she snapped. ''it's not that you're not allowed, it's just that you should have told us. Instead of sneaking out. How did you even get there?''.

''I walked''.

Blake's eyes widened. ''you walked? Belly what the hell? You shouldn't walk by yourself, not at night''.

Belly rolled her eyes but smiled on the inside for Blake's worry for her.

''Blake's right Belly. You know better than to walk far down the beach alone at night'', Laurel agreed.

''can you stop treating me like a kid?'', she shot back at her mother. ''well, if you want to be treated like an adult, you need to act like one. And you four boys too'', she told everyone.

''what that's supposed to mean?''. ''that you all have to act like an adult if you want to be treated as one. I hope that you now know this could have been handled differently, if your family wasn't your family'', she pointed at the three Fisher brothers.

''we're sorry Laurel. Like really sorry'', Jeremiah exclaimed. The Conklin woman sighed. ''j-just go to bed. And i really hope you five learnt something''.

Everyone went out but Laurel and Conrad stayed.

As Belly was about to go up, a hand gently grabbed her. She turned around to see Blake. ''look I'm sorry for what happened at the bonfire, and I'm more sorry you got hurt because of me'', he confessed.

She gave him a reassuring smile. ''it's okay Blake. It wasn't your fault''. The boy sighs. ''but it was. You wouldn't have gotten hurt if it wasn't for me. Laurel may have not noticed it today, but she'll do it tomorrow. It may give you a bruise''.

''I'll just come up with something''. ''still I'm sorry, not only for that but for the way I acted too''. She patted his shoulder. ''it's fine Blake, really. Good night''. She removed her hand and went upstairs. ''good night'', Blake whispered back.

As he was about to go up, he noticed Conrad coming out. He looked to see his brother going to their sleeping mother and tuck her in. He noticed the sorrow in Conrad's eyes, he had only seen that one time.

A tear fell down from Conrad's eyes, which Blake saw. He bowed his head down. ''please don't tell me it's really back'', he said to himself.

He fixed himself and went over to Conrad. Conrad didn't look up but felt his brother's presence. ''it's back isn't it?'', Blake asked already knowing the answer.

Conrad made himself look to his brother. Nodding his head slow. ''she doesn't know that I know and I-I couldn't tell her I know. I didn't want you nor Jeremiah to find out. So, I held it for myself''.

Realization hit Blake. This was why his brother became distance months ago. He found about the cancer coming back.

Blake took his brother into an embrace. ''now you don't have to bear it alone anymore, but if I'm being honest I have had my suspicions for some time, you just clarified them'', he assured. ''I'm sorry B. Just don't tell Jeremiah just yet''. ''I won't''.

The brother held each other into a hug for a moment. Then they went into their separate rooms.

Blake knew that this summer would be different. Both good and bad.
