"Shuriken! Vine Staff! Come out and eat breakfast, slowpokes!" Slingshot yelled, serving a hot platter of syrup-drenched, fresh pancakes onto the table. The invigorating scent of melting butter on warm, fluffy pastry immediately brought Shuriken out to eat breakfast. Sitting down, he almost fell asleep again. "Seriously, Slingshot? It's so early, why breakfast now?" Shuriken complained. Vine Staff stumbled out of her room, looking just as exhausted as Shuriken. "Sling, it's so early.." The bright-pink-horned demon yawned. "You two are technically going to be late for work if you don't speed up!" Slingshot tapped on the counter impatiently. "Slow down, Slingshot. Patience!" Vine Staff picked at the pancakes with her fork. Slingshot grunted, staring down at his plate. When Vine Staff glanced over to her brother, he had already wolfed down his entire pancake stack. Vine Staff was in disbelief. "Stop eating so fast, Shuri. Slow down, or you might throw up!" She tried to stuff her pancakes in her mouth as well, not wanting to be the last to finish. "Sis, you're so slow! Even Katana'll eat faster than you!" Shuriken clutched his stomach as he laughed, before placing his dirty plate in the sink. Slingshot was also eating quicker than Vine Staff, obviously focused on getting to work.

(A long 10 minutes later..)

Vine Staff dumped her dishes into the sink. "Finally! Let's get to the cafe!" Slingshot was already hopping around in his girly maid uniform, heart-shaped contact lenses spread on his pupils. Shuriken was moping around, dragging his feet, while Vine Staff was trying to adjust her skirt because it felt unusually tight. Reluctantly, she followed Slingshot out the door, with Shuriken following closely. Once the trio had turned into Slingshot's Cafe, Vine Staff hurried to flip the "Closed" sign to "Open". She sat behind the register, fighting her exhaustion. As she leaned onto the counter, she could hear Slingshot commanding the other employees.

"Get the flour!"

"Prep the oven!"

"Grind the coffee!"

Medkit groaned, staring at the computer screen. "Sword, just ask him out already." He shook his head in his palm. Sword responded with a frustrated roll of his eyes. "Med, it's not that easy!" Sword tried to protest, but Medkit silenced him with a furrow of the brow. "If you want to take Rocket out, take him out! Stop sitting around questioning it. Who knows, maybe Rocket will die tomorrow and you didn't have any chance to ask him out." Medkit snorted, adjusting his legs to a more comfortable position. "Mmph." Sword responded, not finding any words to snap back with. "I'm feeling a hot coffee right now. I'm going to Slingshot's Cafe. See you later, Sword." He dismissed himself, closing out of the call. Medkit was also feeling horribly grumpy. He hadn't slept yesterday, because Subspace tried to bother him all night long. At this point, he didn't care where he got the coffee. He enjoyed going to Slingshot's Cafe, even though the cutesy accents in there wanted to make Medkit throw up.

But as long as he got his favorite; plain black coffee, it would be alright. As he entered Crossroads and turned into Slingshot's Cafe, he noticed the pink-horned demoness at the register, taking orders and looking terribly tired, just like him. However, she smiled at him, tired or not tired. Medkit realized he was standing in the doorway like a dumbnut, so he quickly got out of the way. The cafe was crowded, most of the chairs had been taken. "Good morning. Can I have a hot coffee? Black, please." Medkit tried to sound polite, but winced at the harshness of his voice. The woman wrote down his order on a slip of paper, before looking at him again. "Anything else, sir?" She asked with a smile. Medkit shook his head, handing her a few Bux and then sitting down in an empty seat near the door.

Vine Staff served the two warm coffees and the cookie to the couple, before a well-dressed man with classy attire walked in. Curiously, Vine Staff eyed him. He clearly stood out. He had teal-green horns that resembled antlers, with a crystal floating in between and a gold ring hanging from his left horn. He wore some checkered pants, a coat, and some crisp black boots. He held a checkered suitcase that matched his pants. Most interestingly, he wore an eyepatch that covered one of his eyes. Smiling at him awkwardly, she leaned forward, ready to take the order. As he ordered a plain black coffee, she nodded, writing it down and handing it to Shuriken, who passed it to Slingshot. "Thank you for ordering, sir!" Vine Staff waved to him cheerfully.

As Shuriken handed Vine Staff the coffee, she made her way over to the man. She had made it about halfway to him when suddenly, she tripped over her own foot, and slipped over the cold tile, splashing scalding-hot coffee all over his suit. Vine Staff covered her mouth, holding back a gasp. She immediately stood up, bowing apologetically, feeling the gazes of other, curious people digging into her back like lasers. "I- I'm so sorry, sir! Let me clean that up for you!"

Medkit sat down on a chair, waiting patiently with legs crossed. After a few minutes, the same demoness came out, holding his coffee on a small pink platter. As she neared, she tripped, and spilled coffee all over him. Medkit was astonished, and immediately tried to clean the liquid off his coat. As he cleared his throat to say something, she got up and bent down many times to show her apologies. Medkit shivered as the hot liquid seeped into his expensive clothing. "I'm so sorry!" She had apologized profusely. She came back with a few napkins and a cloth, and got down on the floor to clean up the spill, which sprawled out like liquid mud on the floor. Medkit sat there awkwardly, as she was in a weird position right under him.

As Vine Staff bent down, she realized that she was in an awkward place right under his legs. She got up, her face flushed. "Oh- my bad, sir-" She backed away sheepishly. "It's alright," The chap had responded. "Call me Medkit, instead." He offered. Vine Staff nodded. "I'm Vine Staff." As she finished up cleaning, she went back to fetch him another coffee. "You don't need to-" Medkit called after her. Vine Staff refused, saying that she wanted to give him another coffee to apologize. "Sorry for spilling that hot coffee on you," Vine Staff brought another cup, filled with black coffee. Medkit smiled weakly. A warm feeling had spread onto his face, but Medkit couldn't tell what the feeling was.
