Zayra's POV

It's been a while since Jarem and I became intimate, and I can confidently say it has been everything I ever dreamed of and more. The boys always talked about how incredible it would be, but living it is a whole different experience.

Though Jarem doesn't vocalize his feelings, he shows them in subtle ways. He's not one to wear his heart on his sleeve, always keeping a stoic demeanor, even around his pack. For someone like me, who thrives on emotional connections, this has been a bit challenging. I've grown up in a house filled with love—my four brothers, my father, and my stepmother have always made their affection known.

But here, in Jarem's pack, everything feels calm. The members are genuinely happy, and they can't help but express their excitement at having a Luna like me. I adore spending time with them, sharing laughs and stories. Jarem's beta even has a little boy, around five years old, and I love engaging with him, teaching him new things.

In my previous pack, I was part of a soccer team for kids, and I wanted to start a similar initiative here. I believe it's essential for different packs to interact, to see we're not the monsters they often think we are. I had heard that Jarem, the alpha of this pack, was aggressive, but the more time I spend with him, the more I realize he simply doesn't show his feelings.

It's been six months since I moved here, and honestly, I couldn't be happier. I have no complaints; Jarem treats me incredibly well, and I'm falling for him deeper every day.

A few days ago, my mom called to check in. I think when I packed up my things, I accidentally took some of hers too. I want to ask Jarem for permission to visit my old pack; my mother has a tradition of visiting the grave of her lost pup each year, and I want to take something for her this time.

I knock on his office door, my heart racing. Just looking at him makes my legs feel weak, and I can feel the heat pooling in my core. I walk in, and he looks incredibly handsome, sitting behind his desk, focused on some papers.

"Do you need something?" he asks, glancing up.

"Oh, yes, I wanted to ask if I could visit my old pack. I brought something of  my mom that she really needs. Each year, she goes to see the tomb of her pups, and I'd like to take this to her."

He raises an eyebrow, his expression shifting as he studies me. "Something seems off. Why do you look so nervous?"

I stammer, "It's just... I—"

"I can smell you, baby," he interrupts, a knowing glint in his eye. "I can read you. I know you want me."

I falter, caught off guard by his words. "I—I don't know what you're talking about."

"Come here," he commands, his voice low and sultry.

I find myself moving closer, sitting on his lap, my heart racing as our lips connect. Every kiss sends sparks through my body. I can't deny it—I'm crazy about him. My body responds to every touch, trembling as if we're igniting a flame that's been dormant for far too long.

"I love you, Jarem," I whisper against his lips, the words slipping out before I can think. But I mean it. He's my mate; surely he must feel something similar, right?

As much as I want to visit my old pack, I understand that I'm his Luna now, and with that title comes a need for protection.

When I arrive home, my mother greets me with open arms. She's beaming, sharing stories of what's been happening in the pack. "Oh, Zayra, Vicente has been looking for you!"

Vicente? I completely forgot to reach out to him, even though I knew he was far away. He's a vampire, and I can't shake the feeling that our worlds are too different. He might understand my position as the Luna of a wolf pack, but it still feels complicated.

I spend time with friends I haven't seen in ages, reminiscing about old times. Everything feels comfortable, yet the tension in my heart lingers. When I return to Jarem's house, something shifts in the air.

"Don't touch me! Don't come near me!" he snaps, his voice like ice.

I retract my hand, startled. "What's wrong? I thought everything was okay."

"You really don't know what you've done, do you?" His eyes flash with something I can't quite place. "Things are about to change, Zayra. You'll soon learn why they call me the Heartless Alpha. Get ready; I'm going to make your life hell."
