You haven't been feeling like yourself much lately. Not really knowing what was going on with yourself but knowing that something was off. You felt yourself slowly slip into sadness, getting hurt more easily and therefore hurting your friends and most of all your girlfriend.

After accidentally snapping at her over text while she was away on a short mission, you immediately regretted it. She wasn't the reason you were feeling the way you do, and you knew that. When Natasha didn't give you a response on your text you knew you messed up. You send her messages apologizing, but she wasn't even receiving your texts anymore.

Throwing your phone out of anger, it hit the wall and you heard the screen shatter, but you couldn't care less about your phone. What would you need your phone for anyways, you pushed all people away when you felt yourself drifting off. And now you pushed away the one person who truly loved you.

You couldn't be in your room right now, so you moved to your hide out spot in the compound. The one you used to get away from everything. It was a small room on the top floor with a window looking out over the forest. Over the years you had brought more and more stuff into the room to make it more comfortable.

Taking a seat on the comfortable armchair you break down in tears. You didn't want to lose Natasha, she was your home and your whole world. You wanted and needed her in every aspect. The thought of losing her was too much. You tried clearing your mind by looking out the window, focusing your eyes on the moving treetops.

It didn't take long for your eyes to get out of focus, making you stare at the trees with glassy eyes. Tears still ran down your cheeks from time to time, but the sobbing had stopped.

When Natasha got back from her mission a couple hours later, she went straight to your room. She felt really bad that her phone stopped working in the middle of your conversation. She knocked on your door wanting to apologize. When she didn't hear a response she slowly opened the door to see if maybe you were sleeping. But all she found was a broken phone laying on the floor next to a dent in the wall.

Natasha got instantly worried and walked all over the compound looking for you. When she couldn't find you in any of the common rooms and none of the other Avengers had seen you, she started thinking of other places you might be. That's when she remembered you told her you had a secret hide out somewhere on the top floor of the compound. Natasha had never been there before, wanting you to have your safe space for yourself, but she had to find it now.

She opened every door on the top floor until she found you. Her heart broke at the sight of your tear-stained face and blank stare out of the window. "Hey baby." Natasha said to get your attention. You blink your eyes to get them back into focus and turn your head to see if it was really Natasha or just a figment of your imagination. When you saw it was really her you said hi back in a broken voice from the crying.

Natasha sat down in front of you, her hands resting on yours. "What's going on, baby? Talk to me please." You swallowed the lump in your throat before speaking. "I took out my frustrations on you and you didn't deserve that. You don't deserve any of this. I keep pushing you away and I keep upsetting you, keep hurting you. And I just feel like you deserve so much better than me. But I don't want you to leave me, Natasha. I want to be better for you, but I just don't know how sometimes." You say in one breath, scared that if you don't say it now the worlds will never come. After a deep shaky breath, you finish by saying "Please don't leave me."

"I'm not going anywhere, y/n." Natasha starts. "I'm so sorry if you felt that way. On the mission while were talking my phone stopped working and I wasn't able to get back to you. I know we sometimes get frustrated with each other more easily when we are apart from each other, but that never ever means that I don't want to be with you anymore. It's you and me against the world, remember? Whatever it is we will work on it together and we will get through it together."

Natasha's words brought you some comfort. 'It's you and me against the world' was something that had become a safe haven for you. It doesn't matter what was going on but when those words were spoken, you knew everything was going to be okay because you didn't have to go through it alone.

Besides vocal comfort you also needed physical comfort. So, you stood up and asked Natasha if she could sit down on the armchair. Natasha would do everything in her power to make you happy, so she complied immediately. Once she sat down you sat down on her lap and buried your face in her neck. Natasha wrapped her arms around you to provide you with the comfort that you needed.

She moved one of her hands through your hair, something she knew always calmed you down. When she heard you slowly drifting to sleep in her arms, she placed a soft kiss to your temple. She would sit there and hold you the whole night if she had to.

When you woke up, you were a bit confused by your surroundings, but seeing Natasha's face quickly brought you back. "Hey sleepy head, how are you feeling?" She asked while stretching her back a bit. "I'm doing alright. I still feel quite sad, but I'm glad I know you're not going anywhere and that we will figure it out together."

Once you felt ready to go back downstairs, Natasha took your hand and went with you. After opening the door, you see your phone on the floor. You had completely forgotten that you had thrown it earlier. With a deep sigh you picked it up, and like you thought it was completely broken.

Natasha takes the phone from your hand and places it on your bedside table, "Don't worry about it, I asked Tony to get both of us a new one." You smile at Natasha, how did you get so lucky. She always thought about the little things. You pull her in for another hug. "I love you, Natasha."

"I love you too, y/n. Forever and always, please never forget that. And like I always say, I will promise to remind you every day for the rest of our lives." Natasha says. Once you let go of her she offers to get the both of you some food, an offer you will gladly take her up on. It had been a while since you had your last meal. She kissed you softly before leaving the room.
