Prompts: "I really want to kiss you right now." & "I've been in love with you since we were kids."

~

Back in Ohio, you lived next door to Natasha and her family. Though, you and Natasha had already met prior to moving there. You grew up in the Red Room together both from a very young age, you went through all the training and programs together. Ohio was a big and long mission, Natasha was sent to live with Alexei Shostakov and Melina Vostokoff and another young spy named Yelena Belova. A couple weeks later you got sent on the same mission but lived right next door. They created a family just like theirs for you, except you were an only child. The reason they sent two families out there was to make sure that Natasha and Yelena could make it seem like they were living the lives of normal children. Playing and having friends. They sent you because they knew about you and Natasha's bond, it wouldn't work with any other combination of young widows.

It took three years to complete that mission. And though it was a mission, those were the first years of your life you felt like a kid. You got to school and play with kids your age, which was very odd at first. But you quickly came to enjoy it, it was at much slower pace than you were used to in the Red Room. You and Natasha were in the same class, since Yelena was younger you didn't see her at school much. But the three of you would always walk home together.

You would run around playing in either your or Natasha's backyard, until Yelena had to go to bed. When it was just the two of you and it would get dark you would both sit on the swing set, looking at the fireflies. You were in awe of the fireflies, so every evening the were around you would look at them until your parents or Natasha's said it was time for bed.

Once your mission was over, you all had to go to the Red Room again. All of you got separated. Yelena was placed in a group with younger widows, and you were placed with the teenagers, while Natasha was sent to a group for a secret project. It took a couple years before the secret project was over and Natasha was back in your group. Once you and Natasha graduate the Red Room, you were placed in the KGB. The two of you were inseparable, one of the world's greatest assassin duos.

When Natasha got the briefcase with red dust, you went with her to Budapest, where you found Yelena again. After taking down the Red Room with Natasha, Yelena, Alexei and Melina, you all went back to the Avengers compound, where you and Natasha lived. After a couple weeks Alexei and Melina decided to move back to Ohio, Yelena decided to join the Avengers and stay at the compound.

After a busy day of work, you and Natasha walk back home deciding on the route through the forest. This route was your favorite, you loved being surrounded by nature. Tonight, was extra special though. About halfway through the forest you noticed something, you grabbed Natasha's hand making her stop in her tracks. She notices your awestruck eyes look off into the distance and follows your gaze. Once she sees what you're looking at she squeezes your hand. She drops her bags to the floor, and you do the same. Your eyes are focused on the fireflies, until you feel Natasha's eyes on you. You turn to face her with a smile on your face, "Remember when we would stay up and watch the fireflies back in Ohio?"

Natasha was still looking at you, but she wasn't answering your question, "Nat?" You asked. She hummed in response. So, you ask, "what's up?" Natasha takes a moment to collect her thought while looking down at your still intertwined hands. "I really want to kiss you right now."

She tilts her head, nervously looking back up at your face. Your face has a soft expression on it, "I think that's a great idea." Natasha's eyes widen slightly, the nerves slowly falling more to the background as she's getting more confident. She gently tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, placing her hand on your cheek and leaning in closer. You smile before leaning in as well, your lips meeting in the middle.

When you pull away for air you say, "I know it's probably too soon to say this, but I love you, Natasha." Natasha smiles and kisses you passionately. "Y/n, I love you too." She says when she pulls away, "I've been in love with you since we were kids."

You decide to watch the fireflies a while longer, just sitting on the ground. Holding each other close, reliving old memories and thinking about new ones to come.
