It was a rainy day today, outside. I was spinning my umbrella, as I walked down the street. I tried my best to be careful not getting in a puddle. I felt the rain drops falling more aggressively on my umbrella. Good thing I was early and had enough time to dry myself out.
There it was. The same magical place. The place I was about to spend the best days of my life. Or at least, that's what I hoped. I'll do my best.
I looked for my schedule and found my homeroom. I went in front of the door, that matched the number on my school schedule. The door was open. I decided to go in.
I found a sit and waited in, patiently. Even though I knew we'll be probably having different seats, according to what our homeroom teacher says.
As time passed I started hearing more and more sounds from outside. I heard steps as if people were running down the corridors. I heard chatter coming from just outside the door. I heard children's laughter.
It was calming. Knowing people were outside, enjoying every single bit of their school lives. It was wonderful.
All I wished for was people to enjoy at what they had in hands. The other things will come naturally. My thoughts were cut short when the door opened.
"Dude, why are you standing there, the door's open?" The boy standing in front of the door said, looking in another direction. It was a blonde, tall boy. His hair was curled, made in a fashionable haircut.
"I'll go in later, dude. There's still more time." A distant voice, coming from outside the door, replied.
"As you say." The blonde guy added.
He looked around and saw me.
"Oh, I didn't know there was already someone in here." The guy said, scratching his head.
"Yeah, I found just a while ago the door was open as well." I said awkwardly.
"Well I'm Jack, by the way. Nice to meet you!" He smiled and extended his hand.
"Evelyn. It's nice meeting you too." I shook his hand. What a cheerful boy. I liked people like him.
"Woah, such a beautiful name." He said, smiling.
I giggled at the words. "You're flattering me."
"Nah, I'm being for real. I really like the sound to it. Evelyn, Evelyn. Oh hey Evelyn." He laughed and I couldn't stop myself from laughing too. What a fun guy to be around with.
I decided to say my thoughts aloud. "You're one funny guy."
"That's the way I am, I guess." He shrugged.
He turned his head, as some girls made their way in the room, as well. He hurried to go to them and introduce himself to them. I guess he's that type of guy. Well nevermind, as long as I didn't get involved.
I kind of liked my class already. They were all a bunch of careless kids. Just the way I want it. A cheerful, light, carefree, happy place. It couldn't be more perfect-
No, I take my words back! My long lost nemesis, just entered my paradise. I brought my head down my desk. As I tried helplessly to hide. I can't believe this. What are the odds?! There's no fucking way in hell, that scumbag was in my class! There's just no way.
I heard steps near me, and i got goosebumps. That's so messed up.
"Guess there's people that just came in to sleep here." It was his voice. I heard it very well, as if he was standing right beside me.
No. Resist. Don't bother. It's all good. It's all fine. If I stand up now I'll just probably beat the hell out of him, which was definitely not worth it. So just stay calm. Deep breaths-
"I can't believe such people got accepted in here." He continued.
"That's frivolous. I can't stand such behaviour." I snapped at his words.
I got up, suddenly, banging on the desk hard. "Shut the fuck up, you jerk!" I said loudly out of any self control.
Everyone jumped except for him. I looked at him furiously, to find out he was smiling. That piece of shit, I'm gonna show him-
"Good morning, class." A teacher entered, making me forget all about my previous intentions. I sat down as fast as I could.
Oh no. No, no, no, no, no! What's happening to me? This has to be some kind of a nightmare! Me? Screaming loudly at a classmate, banging on my desk, showing such aggression, in the centre of the classroom, surrounded by all my classmates, in my new elite high school, that I just got accepted in with so much hard work invested in it. This can't be happening. Not to me. Not to the Evelyn that was like she didn't existed wherever she went to, no one not even knowing her name and even forgetting her face, what she looked or is like.
"Easy there." The brat whispered near me, causing me to turn around. That prick was calling for it. Just you wait, shithead. I thought all possible ways to kill a little spoiled shit, while death staring his direction.
"You're dead." I whispered doing the I'm-gonna-chop-your-head-off mimic at him. I'm not gonna let that slide, this time. He'll pay for every harsh word he said.
The bell for the end of the class rang. I turned behind in an instant.
"Can we have a little chat outside?" I said slowly, facing him and cleared my throat.
"It's Ethan." He said.
"Uncalled for." I returned back.
He snorted.
"Is this funny to you? I'm in real trouble now, all thanks to you. And you're here laughing at me like nothing happened?" I said outraged. We both now standing in front of the door of the classroom.
"Well, I mean, do I look like I care what will happen to you, at all? All you did, you did it yourself. I haven't done anything, so I'm in the clear. That's all I care about." He said nonchalantly.
"You haven't done anything? Is that why you started provoking me, when I simply tried my best to ignore you?-" I was cut short yet again.
"That's bullshit. You were the one who reacted so-"
"Okay, okay. Just tell me. Tell me what's your problem with me? What do you want from me?" I said out of any energy to confront anymore.
"My problem? I don't have any problem. You're just irritating. But more than that you're nothing to me!"
"Fine. I'm gonna say this once. If you find me so irritating then just leave me alone, let me be and don't bother me anymore! Simple, right? " I said defeated.
"I don't think that's possible." He said.
"Oh my god, you're unbelievable. I can't-" I was cut mid sentence.
"No, but tell me how can I look at you doing everything wrong and just sit and say nothing. You're just out of place here. Everything about you here is wrong!" His voice getting louder with every word. The words feeling like blades to me.
"What's going on here?" I voice that didn't belong to any of us was heard in the distance.
