The Miller residence's doorbell rang.
Rosemary shot up from the sofa at the same time as Will, both shouting, "Got it!"
They raced each other, shoving and pushing, and they both laughed.
"Tie?" Will asked.
"Tie." Rosemary shrugged.
"I'll unlock, and you open?" he asked, and she nodded.
He unlocked the door with a click, and Rosemary pulled it open.
"James?" she asked, smiling. "Hey! How are you..."
She trailed off.
James blinked at her, his lips slightly parted, like he had just seen the most shocking thing in the world.
"Um..." he said. He looked between the two.
Rosemary eyed him. "What?" she asked.
"Uh..." He shook his head, and when his eyes locked on hers.
"Charlotte's...dead."
