"What?"
Her world spun.
Will stood beside her, face stark-pale, tears swimming in his dark eyes. He blinked repeatedly like he'd been hit in the head.
"Charlotte's...what?" Rosemary mumbled, staggering away from James. "She's not, right? You're pranking me?"
James shook his head, tears in his own eyes. "No," he whispered.
"Come in," Will said, stepping aside. "And tell us everything."
Moments later, they found themselves in the living room, on the couch.
"How did she...?" Rosemary shook her head, unable to process it.
"Tuberculosis, my mom said." James shut his eyes. "Charlotte didn't move schools. TB is an infectious disease, so she spent the last couple months shut down at home."
"And that's why she never met up with me," Rosemary realized. "She wasn't busy."
"She's...really gone?" Will asked stupidly.
"How did you not know?" Rosemary asked angrily. "How did you not know?"
"Rosemary—"
"No! I don't understand! What was going on with you two? How did she manage to keep her disease away from you? How did you not realize that she was dying?!" Tears streamed down Rosemary's face.
"Rosemary..."
They didn't realize that Will had got up and had run up the stairs for his phone. Quickly using the Face ID, he pulled up iMessage.

He let out a sigh, unsure of what to say.
"I'm sorry," he said simply. "I love you."
He rested down the rose he had been holding.
"I'll be back soon."

Now you know T_T
Now you know how Charlotte died.
Not suicide, nor anything of the sort.
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease, which was why Charlotte left the school. But she didn't want anyone to know about the disease, so she begged her mom to tell everyone that she enrolled in another school, which was the lie she told Rosemary and Will. But in reality, she was in isolation, which was why she never met up with Rosemary, claiming to be "busy".
Hope you li—
Actually, not gonna say that today.
