His world was empty of color and light. In the darkness, they learned to love the rainthat fell upon them day after day and embraced the freezing air that came with it. They didn't care if they got cold. Frozen. Insensitive. Blind to what their hearts whispered. But forthem, their dying humanity had been watched over from the moment they collapsed until their descent into ashes. Someone had an idea. And the idea was a naive little thing with bright eyes and the biggest smile of a thousand smiles any four-year-old could have.

"I may be being rude, but the world was never fair to them to begin with." he said. His golden eyes lingered carefully on your (Hair color) hair before looking away.

"At least now, they will learn more about what it means to protect. It will be presented to them and they will learn."

''To at least live a happy life...'' The nun's lips tremble.

"That's all that can be done. Y/n won't know any better, but they will." Flora's eyes burned.

"Sometimes, I don't know if you know or not how cruel it can be." She cradled her precious cargo close to her chest and disappeared in hurried, anguish-filled steps, leaving Edward staring at the place she already stood with a heavy heart in a lonely room.

"It's not cruelty," he muttered as he sat behind his desk.

"But necessity."
