"So (Name), what do you want for breakfast?" Thatch asked as the two entered the kitchen. She looked at him suspiciously as she sat at the kitchen counter.
"Do you...cook, Thatch-san?" she asked slowly. He put on a yellow apron and turned to her.
"Of course I can cook. I'm the best cook on this ship, and soon the best in the world! Hahaha!" He strikes a pose with his hands on his hips, laughing with victory. - "So, what do you want to eat? Eggs? Toast? Miso soup?" (Name) looked at him levelly.
"I... are you sure it's safe for me to eat? I don't want to be accidentally poisoned, you know." she said. Thatch's face feigned deep hurt as he walked over and shook his forehead.
"How rude. Is Fossa spoiling you?"
(Name) watched him work with great interest and was surprised that he actually looked like he knew what he was doing. Apparently she had expressed this out loud and he gave her a sigh with a smile from the corner of his eye. She smiled back. As Thatch took the eggs to the tamagoyaki, he looked over at the little girl to see her carefully separating the broken eggshells.
"(Name)"
"Hm?"
"What are your plans for the future?" She raised her head, eyebrows knitted together with the pieces of eggshell between her fingers.
"...Plans for the future...?" she repeated questioningly: "What are you talking about, Thatch-san?"
"I understand that in a few years you will be training to become a strong little pirate, correct? I'm sure your father expects at least as much from you. What kind of pirate do you plan to become?" he questioned. (Name) looked down at her hands. She had never thought about it before. In fact, she never thought about it because she didn't think it was necessary.
"I don't know. If I become a pirate, I would like to be a doctor so I can heal all my friends and teammates." she answered. He paused from cutting into a block of tofu to give her a strange look.
"...And then?"
"And then..." Thatch refrained from commenting and continued to make (Name) breakfast. Not long after, a plate of tamagoyaki, a bowl of rice, and a bowl of miso soup were placed in front of her. She picked up her chopsticks uncertainly.
"Are you sure it's safe to eat?"
"Trust me, just eat and enjoy." (Name) broke the chopsticks with a pout.
"Itadakimasu"...
. . .
"Uwa! It's surprisingly good!" she exclaimed in horror. Thatch's face fell for the second time. Just what was that supposed to mean? With her cheeks full of food and a wide smile crinkling her face, she popped another piece of tofu into her mouth.
"Than' chu" for th' fwod, Thatch-san!" Rakuyo entered the kitchen with an impressive headboard and greeted the two with a yawn.
"Good morning. What are you eating?"
"Thatch-san made me breakfast!" (Name) rang. Rakuyo smiled at the man in the apron dressed in the ridiculously housewife's outfit.
"I'm a little hungry, can you make me something too?"
"Of course I can! Just ask for whatever you want" Thatch exclaimed, with a cheerful tone.
(Name) continued to happily munch on her breakfast alongside the growing friendly conversation around her. After breakfast, Thatch left the kitchen and strode through the hallways until he came across Whitebeard's office. He entered without knocking and stood in front of the table with his arms crossed over his chest. Edward looked up.
"Recently, I spoke to (Name) about her possible pirate study. She told me that if she became one, she would become a doctor." Whitebeard exhaled through his nose and put down his pen.
"That's right. nee." he replied.
"I like keeping track of future assets for this crew, big or small. You know that." he said, "Tell me, Pops, why do you and (Name) dare say, ''nee''?
Whitebeard smiled opened a drawer in his desk and took out a beige folder with the name '(Full name)' written in thick black letters on the flap. He handed it to Thatch, who examined the contents with a critical eye. After a minute or two, he looked up, eyes wide with a saddened expression.
"E nee." Whitebeard said.
