Vista sat by the window of Whitebeard's Ship in South Blue, a thick book of poetry in one hand and a cup of hot chocolate in the other. Finely framed glasses perched on his nose, a pair of cloudy black eyes stared down at the pages. (Name) was playing in the snow with Oden and Rakuyo, laughing happily. Mainly for them. She really loved being around them. He would never admit it, but it surprised him how well versed these two were dealing with young children. Especially Oden (because Rakuyo seems to deal with children very well).
And Vista? He wasn't sure how to deal with someone as young as her. So far in his life he was not a big brother to an innocent little girl. And now, the title was too good for him. He turned his head to look out the window and see that Oden and (Name) had built Rakuyo into a snowman.
Eh?
When Oden started laughing, his knees falling into the snow, the little girl looked at Vista through the window and waved. He returned the gesture with a slight tilt of his head. (Name) smiled brightly before turning to the snowman Rakuyo. They played for a long time before Flora appeared and urged them inside.
"But mommy, why can't we play anymore?" (Name) pouted. Flora smoothed her hair and placed a kiss on her forehead.
"There's no point in you being sick," she replied, her face as caring as always. - "Take a shower and put on your pajamas." (Name) nodded and ran down the hall. When she disappeared into her room, Flora turned to Oden and Rakuyo.
"You two have been assigned to a mission with Marco and Izo. Go see Whitebeard for more details."
Vista sat on the couch in the living room, reading a book like he always would with (Name) standing in front of the couch he was on. His partner, Thatch, was sprawled out on the couch. (Name) played with Oden's unsharpened wooden sword, diligently trying to make one of the swings he saw in the library books. The silence that flowed between them was light and calm and could last for hours. Until the little girl raised her head.
"Vista-san, where do babies come from?" Thatch, the bastard, didn't even try to hide his booming laugh. Vista sighed before taking off his glasses.
"What brought this on, (Name)-san?"
"I don't know. Oden-san said that babies grow in mommy's bellies and dad puts him there. How does daddy do that? Did my dad do that?" Vista prepared to give her a speech about human anatomy and the reproductive system, but the cheeky, mocking smile Thatch gave him made him think otherwise. He sighed again.
"Sometimes, when two people are in a relationship, they decide to have a child. When that happens, the father gives the mother...seeds...and the baby grows in the mother's stomach," he explained. (Name) looked at him for a few moments before nodding in understanding and continuing to fiddle with his sword. Relieved, Vista sank back onto the couch. Thatch's second laugh was certainly not appreciated, but at least...
"Can two guys have a baby?" ... "Well, yes, but—"
"So that means you and Thatch-san need a baby! Don't you have one, relationship?" she asked, head tilted to one side. - "But you're going to be dad and daddy. Does Vista-san put the seed in Thatch-san or Does Thatch-san put the seed in Vista-san?"
Thatch roared with so much laughter that he rolled off the couch and onto the floor. - "We don't have a relationship like that, kid," he panted, throwing an embarrassed smile.
"What Vista-san means is that when two people like each other, they will know, and they will open a business."
"So you don't like some?" Vista pinched the bridge of his nose. Accepting the embarrassment on your face.
"No, (Name)-san. We don't." A few days later, she asked Oden the same question about him and Rakuyo. He choked on the water.
