Alexa's POV

It's currently 7:45 and Ben texted me saying he'll be here soon. I really can't wait to hangout with him. It's been so long and I've missed him so much.

Is it bad i'm kind of nervous? I mean, he's my best friend, why am I so nervous to hangout with him?

I try my best to push my nerves away and focus on how excited I am. I'm not exactly sure where we are going to eat, so I settle on jeans, my white converse and a long sleeve crop top since it's nice outside. I pair it with some of my favorite jewelry and rings.

I look myself over in the mirror one more time

I look myself over in the mirror one more time. Fixing my hair and makeup.

My phone buzzes as i'm fixing my mascara.

Ben: Hey Lex, i'm outside. no rush, take your time!

I can't help but smile when I see his name. I quickly reply, look in the mirror one more time before I leave and grab my keys, phone and wallet.

I lock the door behind me and walk down the driveway to his car. He gets out when he sees me and opens the passenger door for me.

I can't help but blush as I say thank you and get in. I swear he's always been such a gentleman.

He closes the door after I get in and walks around and gets in the drivers seat. He backs up and we start driving.

After a minute of comfortable silence, listening to music, he looks at me and smiles.

"So do you want anything specific to eat? I was thinking about just going to that little bar and grill in town" he says looking at the road.

I can't help but watch him as he drives. He looks so good. I snap back to reality when I realize I haven't answered him.

"That's fine with me. I haven't been there in a while"

"Great" he says and smiles.

The car ride is pretty quick since we don't live too far from town.

When he parks in front of the bar and grill, I undo my seatbelt and stay seated and wait for him. I know he would freak out if I opened the door on my own, it's how he's always been, even when we were younger and couldn't drive yet. His parents have raised him so well.

He opens my door, smiles and waits for me to exit before closing the door and locking the car.

The grill isn't too packed so we get seated right away. We sit and look over the menus and order our drinks before we start talking.

"So how is school? Softball and classes going good?" he asks, taking a sip from his drink.

I nod my head, "yeah! Everything is going good, not too much to complain about. What about you Mr. College?" I ask, giggling to myself.

He chuckles and looks at me, "about the same. Very different from high school, but I can't complain. Almost finished with my first year which is kind of scary to think about."

I nod in understanding. "Yeah, I can imagine, it went by really fast. I can't believe i'll be a senior. It's pretty terrifying" I say as I fiddle with the straw in my drink.

He smiles, "yeah, that is pretty crazy. But I know you'll do great next year. Especially with softball, you won't have to worry about anything when applying to colleges."

His smile is so genuine and so confident that I can literally see his eyes shining.

I blush and pretty soon our food comes. We thank our waiter and eat while we talk and catch up some more.

He's always been so easy to talk to and it helps that he's known me for so long. He makes me feel comfortable and I know I can be myself around him.

Our conversation lasts well after we finish our food and the grill has slowly become more packed. Mostly with people coming in to sit at the bar and drink.

Our waiter comes with our bill and like the gentleman he is, Ben gets it.

"Thank you" I smile at him.

"Of course" He smiles back at me.

At this point, the grill is pretty crowded with people drinking and mingling so Ben takes my hand and leads me towards the door as I follow behind him.

As we near the exit, I feel a strong hand grab my free arm tightly, pulling me back some.

I turn towards the person holding onto me and immediately falter, feeling sick to my stomach when I recognize exactly who it is.

Alex. My ex.
