Chapter 20

Ben's POV

We all get settled in the living room, Alexa sitting next to me and everyone else seated around the room.

I look over at Alexa and see her fiddling with her rings and chewing on her lip nervously. I put my hand on her knee to calm her down and she gives me a small smile and nod.

I clear my throat and look around at all our friends.

"Thank you guys for coming by. First, let's just get it out of the way now, Alexa and I are officially dating." I pause for a minute to let everyone react.

Brooke squeals and claps her hands excitedly and the guys all smile and high five me.

Lex blushes and I smile and chuckle to myself.

"Okay, now, i'm the one that brought you guys here because I wanted to talk to you about something." I look to the guys, "you guys know Alex, Alexa's ex," I pause and look around as everyone nods, "well he saw her and I together the other night and got angry, long story short, he's dangerous and he put his hands on her. He threatened her and since i'm leaving, I need you guys to try and keep her away from him, keep her as safe as possible."

I look around, Brooke is shocked, looking between Alexa and me. The guys are angry, I can tell by their set jaws and clenched fists. They've known Alexa for a while too and they're all fiercely protective over their friends.

James looks the angriest. Like me, he's never liked Alex.

"He what?" He says through gritted teeth.

I look at him, "James, you're probably my closest friend who is also close with Alexa, I need you to be able to look over her for me. Not get all hot tempered, I need her to be above anything else."

He nods and I give him a nod back. Everyone agrees and tells me they'll keep an eye on her for me.

After that conversation, Brooke and Alexa go off to her room to talk, while I stay in the living room and talk to the guys.

Alexa's POV

Brooke and I are in my room, sitting on my bed and talking. I figured I should probably talk to her alone because we haven't spoken in a few days and the one day we see each other, I have a new boyfriend — who happens to be my best friend from childhood — and my abusive ex, also turns out to be psycho.

"So I need the full story now. No summary and every detail" Brooke jumps right in.

I laugh and smile.

I tell her everything, from bumping into Ben in town, everything that happened with Alex, I showed her all the texts from him, how he showed up when I was here alone, to the weekend I spent with Ben at his school, to having sex with him for the first time, all the way up to now.

I answered every question she threw at me and watched her face change according to what I was telling her.

"Oh Lex, you've had such a long weekend. It sounds amazing but scary. I'm sorry you had to go through that, but I am beyond happy for you, finally being able to be with the person you really want." She says sympathetically as she grabs my hand.

I give her a small smile and nod, "Ben said talking to you and the guys was the only way he would be able to go back to school and not worry too much about Alex and his threats. He said that when word starts getting around that we're together, his threats might become more than just threats."

She nods, "the guys and I will be here for you. You won't go anywhere alone, do you hear me?"

I nod, "yes."

After a little bit longer of talking, we go back downstairs and Brooke and the guys leave.

Ben and I order food and spend the night eating, talking and watching tv. Eventually we move upstairs to my room where we lay in bed and talk some more before I eventually fall asleep in Ben's arms.
