As Evelyn buzzed around Iris, the young girl could no longer contain her laugh. The incredible motion elevated the latter's senses, as if the energy that generated naturally stimulated her Yuran into existence even though she did not bring it to life.

Evelyn came to a swift stop at the perfect spot next to Iris and they began their walk to the largest ground of Sylva Vita, a space that if viewed from its centre seemed to stretch endlessly in all directions.

There was much to be done and not a lot of time left, but the pace they were on appeared to be perfect, so far.

Iris halted suddenly, her fingers curling into a loose fist. Evelyn stopped beside her, turning to face the young girl and she did the same.

Such a substantial difference in height.

"Your father passed away doing something he should not have been doing, right?"

Evelyn wanted to elaborate and clarify, but for the moment she only gave a single nod.

"Do you ever feel that your father abandoned you?"

By being careless and not considering you?

It was a question Evelyn had never expected the young girl would ask her, let alone consider it. It was also a question that had a very clear answer, and any reason supporting the opposite answer would make no sense to her.

"Do you ever feel that your mother abandoned you?"

"No, never."

Iris answered immediately as if the response came without her conscious knowledge. She realised she shared the same sentiment as Evelyn regarding her response, but she was curious enough to still want a proper answer.

"He did not choose to leave me. He chose his duty and he followed it every moment of his life as best as he could. He chose to do that duty and it led to him leaving the world very soon, but I know he never wanted to leave me. It is not as if he never bothered to think of me and left me to follow a selfish flow of life without thought. In fact he promised to always take care of me and encouraged me when I was still small and learning. He promised to stay with me the moment I came into this world, and he always delivered in his ways. The importance of his duty did not diminish my importance to him.

"I wish everyone would understand this about him, but most people aren't in a position to understand simply because they don't try. Whatever the reason may be for them not trying, it will never affect how I see him, and how I remember him. I know who he was, and I know who I am, and as long as I am here, I will keep learning."

Iris's smile caused the tear that almost left Evelyn's eye to roll back in, holding the memory of the man she missed in that moment there.

"Why do you ask?"

The young girl's smile faded away. Evelyn had rarely ever seen Iris reflect the feelings of the living things on Earth, but seeing the way Iris's pupils dilated and the light turned blue, all Evelyn wanted to do was know the reason so that she could make the sorrow go away.

"A lot of human beings have, at various points in their life, felt abandoned by other humans. The relations they have with this person could be anything, but the one factor that ties them to the common thread is that one person, after not trying hard enough, gives up on something in relation to the other person who is very close to them.

"You seem to understand them very well, so I wanted to know if you understand this."

Evelyn crouched next to Iris and sat on her knees, gesturing for the young shadow to do the same.
