"Are you guys done yet?" I interrupted them

"Are you guys done yet?" I interrupted them. I could never give a damn about Kiaan's interests but today they seem a little too  fascinating.

"Huh, jealous much?" Kiaan asked being a jerk he is, but that didn't change the expression on Samayara's face. She seemed used to this by now.

"Quite not," I replied. It wasn't jealousy, I just wanted to be included in their talks.

"Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night or day," he teased and smirked again and I'm holding myself back from punching that smirk out of his face.

He returned the earphones to Samayara, and I felt a sense of relaxation again. I don't know, but I am quite possessive of my seatmate now. I think it's because she's my friend first. I can't have more clarity than this now it's not even 6 in the morning for god's sake.

Kiaan and I chatted for a while about the activities there that excited us as he said he can't sleep and proudly won't let me sleep either. He made it his goal to make me suffer with him ever since I offered to be his friend.

Hiking, swimming, and playing football, of course. Apparently, it didn't include my favourite, which is skating, but it's alright. I'm equally excited for the new adventures.

Soon, we dismounted from the bus, and Samayara left first without saying anything, which was expected. Her friends surrounded her killing any other chances of holding any conversation either. During breakfast too, she seemed distant. I shouldn't have pulled her like that. I face palmed mentally on reminder.

We refreshed ourselves and changed into our regular clothes. Leaving the restaurant, my eyes were only searching for her.

"What are you so lost for that you're not doing your duties right?" Aakib asked, clearly annoyed as I was quite literally messing up the distribution of rules pamphlets.

"No, I—I'm just exhausted," I lied.

"Sure, then you can take rest. I'll do this myself," he said wryly. He acts as if would rather die than admit he cares.

"Really?" I confirmed, and he nodded.

"Thanks, Aakib. I owe you this one," I thanked and quickly departed to search for Samayara.

I looked everywhere only to find her in the backyard feeding the cats. I tiptoed until I reached her and whispered her name so as not to startle her. She turned her face to me, and that wide smile of hers tugged at my heartstrings.

"What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I just was passing by," I couldn't admit I was looking for her.

"You shouldn't be anywhere alone like this, Samayara," I said softly.

"Oh, I'm not alone. Vanie just went to get them more food and milk," she replied, and Vanie returned soon after.

"Hi, Evyaan," she greeted me already familiar with my name.
