olivia's pov

"yes mum, i'll get all the things you need on my way home from school... yes i've already submitted the documents you needed me too before i got to school..." i calmly stated into the phone, trying to calm my mother's anxieties. i mentally sighed as i reached the high school gate, looking up at the sky as i listened to my mother drawl on about all the things under the sun.

"remember, i won't be home tonight, so please remember to--"

"eat well, wash up well and also lock the doors until you get home." i finished for her as i climbed the stairs to my classroom. "mum, i'm 17 and i've heard you give me the same lecture for the past 15 years of my life. i think i'll be okay if you go out every once in a while."

i heard her sigh and even though i couldn't see her, i could picture her shaking her head. "i know sweetie, i'm just worried for you, that's all. this is the first time i've left you at home since..." she trailed off as i stopped walking and sighed, closing my eyes.

"since dad passed away..." i finished for her as images of him passed through my head.

there was silence for a while before i opened my eyes and continued, "i'm okay mum, don't worry, just enjoy your dinner tonight." i told her, trying to sound as upbeat as possible. she audibly sighed out, "alright sweetie, i love you, have a good day at school."

i smiled, "i love you too mum, see you later."

i tucked my phone into my back pocket and looked up at the ceiling, "i just wish you were still here dad." i muttered before continueing my way up to the classroom.

"SO, olivia, did you read the newest chapter?" aiko asked, putting her tray onto the table and sliding into the seat opposite me. i looked up at her, her green eyes sparkling as she patiently waited for my answer.

i gave her a smile, "of course i did aiko, stayed up to read it last night." i took a bite of my food as she started reading the new manga chapter of jujutsu kaisen. another tray was placed beside me before a brunette sat down next to me.

"i swear olivia, i think you've read more manga than actually studying for our exams at this point." ren teased as i playfully rolled my eyes and hit him in the shoulder. "says the one who is failing almost every class." i quipped back as he feigned hurt, placing his hand on his heart.

"i can't believe you would stoop so low." he sputtered out before looking away as he spot something out of the corner of his eye. "hiroshi, save me, olivia's bullying me again!" he whined out.

"after knowing you for so long, you probably deserve it ren." hiroshi said, sitting down opposite ren as i gave him a smile. "i knew you'd be on my side okata."

the blonde boy rolled his eyes, muttering to himself before he started to eat.

my attention turned to aiko as she gasped, slamming her phone on the table and abruptly standing up, shocking the 3 of us.

"FUCK, I FORGOT ABOUT THE MATH HOMEWORK!" she sputtered out, looking between the three of us, wide eyed.

the three of us stared at her in silence, "don't do that, everyones looking at us." hiroshi hissed as her as he pushed her back down onto the chair. "if it really means that much to you, i'll let you copy mine." hiroshi muttered out, continuing to eat his food.
