CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR
-would they have made it-|||
By the time a week had passed, the days only consisted of a complete blur to Luna Parker.
She was barely able to function. Her life seemed to be at a standstill as she woke up each morning and went to bed each night.
It was getting harder to push aside the situation she was currently dealing with.
Luna did her best to avoid any and all conversations that had to do with Peter or Gwen. She refused to even think about it, but it was nearly impossible for her.
The girl occupied her time with work, the brunette staying in her office for nearly 12 hours a day just to avoid going home to an empty house. She had to remind herself that it was her decision to be alone without her husband.
Peter was still calling and texting her everyday.
He would wish her a good day at work.
He told her that he missed her.
He texted her goodnight.
And most often, he was telling Luna that he loved her.
She didn't respond to any of them.
Luna Parker knew she'd have to talk to him eventually, but she had yet to find it in herself to actually do it.
She wondered if he was with Gwen at all this week.
She didn't want to believe that he was, but knowing how persistent the blonde was, Luna wasn't so sure.
"Are you okay?"
Luna looked up, her eyes returning back to the redhead sitting across from her as she set her fork down.
"Yeah," Luna coughed as she straightened up. "I'm fine."
"You seem distracted." Aubrey gave her a knowing look mixed with sympathy and understanding.
Sighing, Luna only shook her head.
"I'm just tired."
The redhead nodded as she flashed her eyes in Luna's direction.
"Have you heard from him?" Aubrey wondered.
"He's been calling." The brunette shrugged. "But I can't find it in myself to pick up."
Silence was casted over them as they ate.
Aubrey only wanted her best friend to be happy, but that clearly wasn't the case given the circumstances. When Aubrey heard about what happened, it was almost like a soap opera.
Her old high school friend involved herself with a guy, someone who was married to her best friend.
It was unheard of.
