The massive high school towers over all the other buildings in this bustling urban area. It's like the school stands at the centre of the entire world.
It brings in top students from every field imaginable. A government-funded school of privilege. They say that if you come here and manage to graduate, you'll be set for life. With hundreds of years of tradition, it sends the cream of the crop into the work force every year. It was built to raise hope in the nation's future. Which makes Hope's Peak a pretty fitting name.
There are two things you need to attend this school... One, you have to already be attending high school. Two, you have to be the very best at what you do. No ordinary student could enroll here. The only way in is if you're scouted by the school itself.
And standing there at the gate of the ultimate school filled with the ultimate students...
...was me.
Before we go any farther, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Y/N L/N. Ever since a child, I've been interested in debating, arguing, all of the sort. The phrase, "He'd make a great lawyer!" had been said around me almost everywhere I went, for as long as I can remember. It's almost like my profession of choice had been chosen at birth; I've always aspired to be a lawyer, defending my client as if my life depends on it. A heated debate always gives me a rush of excitement and adrenaline, as if my upcoming words would determine my life.
But then again, I guess that's enough monologuing about my past. I'm slightly nervous, after all, knowing your going to the best of the best is bound to make yourself feel a little like you're below everybody. But I don't have time for that! So I swallowed my fears, and took a few steps forward to the main entrance.
I looked down at the piece of paper clutched in between my fingers, as I read what it said,
"A meeting ceremony at 8 A.M...? It's a little early... but better safe than sorry, I guess."
I gently opened the doors to the prestigious academy, and took a few steps, glancing at my surroundings.
"Where's the damn main hall at...? Might as well find some way to kill time..."
As I muttered under my breath, I decided to continue forward, into the eerily empty halls of Hope's Peak.
But the instant I took that first step forward... My view became warped, twisted. It was like some kind of delusion, melting away and mixing together into something else. Spinning, mixing, melting away, then spinning again... And the next moment..
Everything went black...
......
And then... my eyes were exposed to bright light once again.
My head felt heavy, and my body felt weak. I looked up at the classroom I had found myself in... and had no memory of seeing it before at all.
"Is this... am I dreaming...?"
I pinched my cheek to no avail, and my situation stayed the same. After my eyes adjusted to the light, I noticed the odd features this room had. Metal plates were bolted to each and every window, keeping out the natural sunlight I was used to seeing. A yellow surveillance camera hung from the ceiling, accompanied with a yellow monitor. Both objects peered at me, as if watching my every movement.
"I get that it's a famous school and all... but this level of security? Really?..." I trailed off as I came to a realisation. "The windows weren't bolted shut when I was outside, were they?... Why would they tightly secure just one classroom?"
