christmas eve, my second favorite day of the year. Christmas coming in first place obviously. Christmas eve was the day we had everyone over and did a christmas dinner and everyone had a great time. and today was that day. "Mom! what time is everyone coming over?" I said running down the stairs and some low waisted jeans and a plain black t shirt. I had curled my hair to make it look nice and has done light make up.
"Uhm around 4 30, you like nice babe" she said kissing my head. I smiled standing next to her. she was starting to cook some of the food for tonight. and by cook I mean cut up some vegetables so when arizona april and lexie get here they can start the cooking. Mom didn't have he best track record when it came to cooking. "callie arizona, april and jackson and mark and lexie are coming a bit earlier to help cook, can't do it all by my self." I chucked because she really thought cutting up cucumbers meant she was cooking.
"totally mom."
"Y/n you excited this is like your second favorite holiday of the year." my little zola said coming in from outside with a few chairs in her arms. My dad came around carrying more chairs behind her.
"excited as usual.
"this is a special christmas eve this year" your dad smiled giving you a side hug. Had I forgotten something? why was it so special.
"why?" I said looking up at him confused. I wondered.
"its your last christmas/christmas eve as a kid. next year you'll be 18. a adult." he smiled to me walking over to my mom. I hadn't even thought of this. after next year I was going to be a adult. I was no longer a kid. I was going to be starting collage. moving out of home.
"What! I hadn't even thought of that! why would you tell me that!" I said stressed with my hands in my hair. "this has to be the best fricken christmas eve ever."
"honey it's not like it's your last one." she laughed. It didn't matter it was my last one without responsibilities without strings attached.
"That doesn't matter!" I stressed running up stairs to get started. I grabbed my laptop making a playlist of my top christmas songs to play while everyone was over. this was going to have to be the best christmas eve yet. I heard a quiet knock on door. "come in" the door opened revealing my little sister ellis. she came in sitting on my bed.
" mommy told me to come tell you that april, jackson, arizona, callie, lexie and mark are here." I nodded my head thanking her for telling me. she still had ten years left until she was in my position. lucky thing. I grabbed my laptop and closed my door. Me and ellis walked down the stairs hand in hand. when I got down the stairs I saw all the girls surrounded in the kitchen, boys must have been helping set up in the living room. "she came down mommy" ellis said running over to our mom in the kitchen.
"hey Y/n!" they all said in some order. I waved hugging each of the woman in the room. "so Y/n whats new, you look stressed" callie said moving some hair out of my face. I sighed taking a seat on a stool next to her.
"I was told the this is my last christmas eve as a kid. I'll be a adult next year. I'm not ready to be a adult I wanna stay a kid." I groaned putting my head on the bench in front of me. I heard a few chuckles come from around me. "Its not funny!" I groaned head still down.
"oh sweetie" arizona said coming around the bench and hugging me from behind. "not fun growing up is it?" I shook my head feeling tears under my eyelids. didn't realise how hard this was hitting me. i felt someone's hand on my leg right leg assuming it was callies because she was on my right. at least I had all these guys to guide me through growing up. when I sat up with teary eyes I was consumed with awes, sweeties and honeys.
"we better just make this last christmas the best one yet hey" Lexie said leaning over the counter grabbing on to my hand. I smiled nodding my head wiping my tears away.
"wanna help us cook? you can't be as bad as your mother." April said whispering in my ear. I chuckled nodding my head. before i helped cook I turned on the speaker playing my favourite christmas playlist.
I ran into the kitchen quickly washing my hands helping April make up the salad and the roasted vegetables. we all sung in the kitchen while making the food for everyone. everyone had basically arrived as we were cooking all the was left was some seasoning which we didn't need 5 people for so I left the kitchen going out side to see everyone.
"there she is!" Amelia said running over to me. I hugged her swaying with her for a second. me and Amelia and grown really close recently so we were very excited to see each other.
"Amy!" I smiled letting go of our hug that we were sharing.
"hey Y/n!" link said walking over with scout I smiled walking over to him giving him a side hug the looking at scout he waved at me.
" your so big now scout!" I smiled he was around 3 and a half now so he was just starting to form full sentences. I talked with them for a bit while watching the christmas eve magic play out. dad, mark, Alex, Jackson and ben were all standing around the fire that we had started in our yard. zola's and Sofia where on zola's phone together. bailey scout and Ellis where playing with trucks and barbies on the deck. Jo, Arizona and Callie looked like the where gushing over the fact that Lexie was pregnant. it was a good time for everyone. after a bit of talking me link and Amelia's had split away from each other I walked into the kitchen where my mom was getting herself a drink.
"What you drinking?" I asked her looking intrigued she held up a plain red wine. boring.
"Did you want something?" she asked I nodded my head letting her make me up something. She let me drink a little bit as long as O didn't go overboard which I never did. around her at least. she made me some kind of vodka cranberry. we all made our made our way to the dinner table ready to enjoy the dinner that we had all cooked well, mostly April. minor details though.
"before we start!" dad said tapping his glass, he does a speech every year it's getting old. " This is our dear Y/ns last christmas living at home with us because next year our big girl will be heading off to collage. this is all one of our favourite holidays so let's enjoy this lovely food and enjoy every one around us. Cheers!" he smiled holding up his glass. I looked over to him smiling holding up my drink.
As usual we all went into conversation with people around us I was talking with lexie mark and jo and alex. we were all laughing and enjoying the company of each other. "exited for collage Y/n?" alex said bringing me back to the group
"kind of depends what one I get into."
" what are you hoping for?" lexie said sipping her drink i sighed " NYU but if not brown. hard schools to get into so we will see" i said crossing my fingers.
" I'm sure it will all work out." mark smiled "your a smart girl"
As the night went on everyone seemed to start slurring their words more and being more carless it was always your favorite part of the night laughin with amy about what everyone says. we were all ways the only sober ones left. I started putting the overly drunk adults on the couch and calling the rest of them cabs. I walked over to the couch resting my head in lexies lap. this christmas was definitely one of my favorites
