Serenity's POV

My mind wouldn't allow me to turn off and rest last night. Around four in the morning, I heard the phone rang downstairs. I sent prayer to the gods that momma was OK. But I had a feeling something was wrong. When I got up this morning, I felt like a zombie. I was walking through this haze and couldn't focus on anything. Addison was already up and downstairs. Zac sits on the edge of the bed.

"You alright?" he asked

"I'm going to shower," I tell him

He nods, I grab my things and step into the shower. Letting the water wash away last night's terror. I felt better after dressing. I brushed my hair out and headed down to join the others. As soon as I got to the dining room, the haze I felt this morning came back.

"Serenity," Luna Ruth says as I walk in

Just by the sound of her voice, I could tell something was wrong. Zac pulls me into his arms even before I hear what they say.

"No," I cry

"The doctor called earlier this morning," Alpha Louis says. "I'm sorry, Serenity, your mom didn't make it through the night."

I feel Addisons arms go around me as Zac holds me against his chest.

"We'll take care of everything," Luna Ruth tells me

I straighten up whipping the tears out of my eyes as I do. "Has Christian and Justice been told?" I ask

"Not yet, no," Alpha Louis says

I nod. "I would like to be the one to tell them," I tell him

Zac looks at me. "Are you sure that's a good idea?" he asked

"They are my brothers, and the only family I have lift," I tell him

I could tell he still didn't like it, but he nodded. "I'll go with her," he tells his dad

"Alright, I'll let the guards know y'all are coming," Alpha Louis says

After breakfast, Zac and I start down to the caller, where they are holding the twins. It smells of vanilla beans and washing powder down here. The wood walls trun into stone walls white washed with gray stains. There are mossy patches growing up some of the walls and a couple of flowering vines another way.

"You sure about this?" Zac asked

"Yes," I tell him

His arm reached around me as we came into view of the first guard that stood beside closed doors.

"We have clearing from my father," Zac tells the guard

"Yes, Alpha Zac," he says, bowing his head slightly he opens the door and lets us pass through. "Please stay on the lift side," he asked

Zac nods and pulls me toward the lift. We walk in silence for awhile the only sound is a distant dripping of water nearby.

"It's so quiet down here," I whisper

"Not many down here," he tells me

As we come to another door, his arms are around me again. Another guard stands there. "My father gave us clearing," Zac tells him. "We're here to speak to the Carson twins."

The guard nods. "Last cell on the right," he tells us, unlocking to the door he allows us in

Zac takes my arm as I walk ahead of him. I could see the presence of others in this block.

"Hey there, honey," a guy calls out

I hear Zac growl behind me. I ignore the call and keep walking. A couple of cat calls are heard as we make our way back.
