Chapter 1 (Hunter Exam Arc)

(Writer) Hi reader! I'm glad you decided to give this story a shot. This is my first story I've ever written! This part of the story is honestly the worst part. I'm a new writer and I didn't know how to start this story. The story will gradually get better and better. You can skip this part if you want, it's nothing too interesting going on. I walked into the hunter exam and a really short green guy walked up to me and gave me a badge that had the number 400 on it.

I was waiting for it to start when this big guy came up to me and asked if I wanted some juice. "Uh sorry, but I don't take juice from strangers." "Oh come on I'm not a stranger I'm your friend!" "No way, now get out my face please." He left me after that.

The examiner walked in and told us to follow him. He started picking up the pace so we had to start running. I soon caught up with a spiky haired boy with a tall man in a suit and a blonde guy...or girl? I don't know if that is a boy or a girl. But the spiky haired boy looked around my age so I approached him.

"Hey! What's your name!?" "My name's Gon! Nice to meet you. What is your name?" "My name is Hanaku but you can just call me Hana if you want!" "Okay!" gon said. "Hey what are your names!!!" I said to the man in the suit and the blonde.

"I'm Leorio." The man in the suit said. "They call me Kurapika" The blond said. "Hey, Kurapika. Are you a boy or a girl?" I asked bluntly. "I'M A BOY!!!" Kurapika screamed. Sheesh I didn't mean any offense to it.

Just then a white haired boy rolled up beside Leorio on a skateboard and Leorio started yelling at him. " Hey wait up kid!"

"hm"

"How bout you show a little respect for the exam!" Leorio screamed at the boy.

"What do you mean?" the boy sounded confused.

"I mean quit using a stupid skateboard, that's cheating!!".

"How's that?".

"How? This is an endurance test, that's how!!!!".

"No it's not. "Leorio was cut off by Gon.

"What are you babbling on about now Gon!!" Leorio said.

"The examiner guy only said we had to follow him and that's all." "Yeah, he did say that." I said. The white haired boy then skateboarded towards us.

"Hey, how old are you?" the boy asked bluntly. "12 years old." Gon replied. "Me too." The boy said. "And you?" he asked me. "I'm also 12!" He then did a really cool trick with his skateboard. "I think I'll run for a little while." WHOAH! Cool!" Me and Gon said at the same time. "My name's Killua." "Hi, I'm Gon." "And I'm Hanaku but you can call me Hana if you want."

We continued running as we kept running by people passing out from fatigue. It's been about 4 hours since we started. We saw Leorio as he stopped. Gon then stopped, and so did Killua and I.

"Hey, forget about him, we gotta keep moving." Killua said not caring about him at all. But Gon just stood there, then suddenly Leorio started screaming about how he was becoming a hunter no matter what and then started sprinting. Gon then smiled and used his fishing rod to grab Leorio's suitcase.

"Hey I've got an idea, let's race to see who's the fastest!" Killua said. "Awsome, let's do it!!! I'm gonna dust both of you!" I replied. "Sure ok. But whoever comes in last has to buy dinner." Gon said. "Yeah you're on! Ready! GO!"And with that we all started sprinting.

We soon caught up with Kurapika and Leorio. "See you at the finish line." Gon said. "You guys are way too slow for us." I said. "Yeah, catch ya later old man." Killua said to Leorio. "Hey, I'm not old!! Can't you tell I'm a normal teenager just like you!!!"

We were all shocked. He didn't look like a teenager, like what kind of teenager just wears a suit and carries a suitcase for nothing especially for the hunter exam?

We started passing by a lot of people who were giving up and passing out again. "Hey Gon, Hanaku. I gotta say I'm pretty impressed you can keep up with me." Killua suddenly said. "Huh? Why's that?" I asked bluntly. He hesitated for a second. "Or maybe they're all so slow that you guys just seem fast." "HUH?!! I'VE ACTUALLY BEEN TOLD THAT I'M PRETTY FAST WITH GOOD STAMINA FOR YOUR INFORMATION!!!!" I screamed.

"Whoever told you that was lying then. As if a girl could have as much speed and stamina as me." He said. "Why do you have to be so rude!?" "I'm not rude, you're just annoying." I was hurt by that one. In all my life I have never been called annoying before.

"Man, I really thought the hunter exam was going to be more of a challenge. This is boring." Killua complained. "Hey why do you want to be a hunter anyway?" Gon asked. Killua perked up. "Who me? I never said I wanted to become a hunter." "Huh" we said, confused. "I just heard the exam was supposed to be really hard. It sounded kinda fun so here I am! "What about you Gon?" Killua said.

"Well the thing is, my dad's a hunter. So I decided I was going to be a hunter just like him, no matter what." He said. "Hm, so what kind of hunter is he?" Killua asked. "No idea" Gon said bluntly and I sweatdropped. "You have no idea what kind of hunter your dad is, but you're going to be just like him? How are you going to do that!?" I said laughing. Killua started laughing too, "That nuts!".

"Mito's the one who raised me, and she told me a little about him but I've only ever seen him in pictures she's shown me from a long time ago." Gon said, smiling ahead. "Wait, so who's Mito?" I asked. "She's my aunt." Gon said. "She said that my dad took the hunter exam when he was only 12 years old too. He passed his first try and became a hunter. That's when he decided he would leave the island. So I came to find out why he chose to become a hunter over staying at home with me."

We then saw the exit and I started sprinting trying to outrun each other. "Goal!!!!!!" we all screamed when we made it to the top of the stairs. Oh yeah I forgot to tell you we started going up stairs at about 80 kilometers into the run. Anyway, I definitely won the race but Mr. Satotz said the race was a tie so, Killua, Gon and I all have to buy each other dinner.

I am buying Gon dinner, Gon is buying Killua dinner, and Killua is buying me dinner. "Hey Mr. Satotz, is this where the second phase starts?" Gon asked the examiner. "No it is not. We still have quite a ways to go." Aww man more running, I'm getting tired of this now. I mentally complained.
