Devon's POV
On my way to the office, I make my way through the sea of people. This morning has been so damn busy, I already want to leave. As the line moved, a girl hit on me. I ignored her and walked up. I don't have time for this shit. I make my way to the front desk to grab my schedule from a woman whose name tag read 'Anne'. She's wearing crimson red lipstick and a white blouse with a few loose buttons. Jesus, she looks like a cheap hooker trying too hard to look young. "Here you go, Devon."
I take it from her hand. "Thanks."
I look at the paper. I have psychology first. Great, now I have to go around the other side of campus. I get in my car and drive, looking side to side carefully as I search for the building. Two buildings down, I see a girl leaving the library. She was unbelievably sexy.
No. Just keep driving.
I arrive and park in an empty spot in the parking lot. I get out and head inside, walking and turning corners until I was on the second floor, just where my class was. I take a seat, waiting for the teacher to arrive.
I spin in my chair, bored. As my body turned, facing the door, I see the same girl from the library walking in.
Shit! She's coming this way. Now, don't get me wrong, I've been with my share of women and I'm definitely not shy around them. But, this one was sexy beyond words. She's curvy and well-built, has black hair, and piercing green eyes. There was just something that stuck out about this one.

Lailah's POV
I'm late for class. I had picked up my schedule earlier. I finished my coffee I'd bought prior and was walking down the halls of the library, searching for a book I could read tonight. I hurriedly grabbed a book and went to checkout before grabbing my book and receipt. I run out of there and in the direction of my class.
When I arrive, I notice the teacher wasn't here yet. I sigh in relief.
There's an empty seat next to a guy, so I walk over to him and smile as I introduce myself. "Hi, I'm Lailah. Would it be okay if I sit here?"
He stammered. "No- Yes! I mean, yeah, go ahead."
I giggled. "Thanks. What's your name?"
"Devon."
Just then, the teacher walks in. "Hello, class. I'm Professor Jacobs. Today, I am going to be pairing you with the person next to you. Now, take a good look at them, because they are going to be your partner for the rest of the year. So, your guys' assignment will be to conduct an experiment to prove or disprove a cause and effect relationship between two variables, as well as a researcher-manipulated variable. Now, if that seems confusing, don't worry, that's what your partner is for. These will be due next Tuesday."
What the fuck? It's only Friday.
Many students groaned. "None of that. I will be passing out syllabuses, so make sure to pass one back to the person behind you."
I turn to Devon. "Hey, so since we're partners, do you want to meet up later and get started? You know, since we have four days to work on it and all."
"Sure."
"Great. What place works best for you?"
He shrugged. "The library? It's quiet and we won't be disrupted."
"Sounds perfect. I'll meet you there at four."
Professor Jacobs droned on about how important this assignment is and how it's worth 60% of our grade as he passed out the syllabuses. I made a mental note to catch a ride after school so I could get ready before meeting up with Devon.
A/N - heyyy! so i know this chapter was short and kinda bland, but don't worry, it gets interesting very soon.
