Halen's POV:
It was now the next evening, and I was getting ready for the show. I searched through the dresses that we had acquired since arriving in District 12 and found the perfect one. It was gorgeous and I was definitely wearing it for the show. The top was black with white lining it, the bottom was a black and brown plaid and it was lovely.
I hadn't told the Covey about leaving tomorrow but I knew they would be upset, but for tonight, I have to act like nothing is wrong at all. My mind was consistently on Coriolanus though which was better than thinking about the Hunger Games or Kanan but it was still problematic. I finished up my makeup and then curled my hair when Carina walked in. "You ready?" She asked.
I nodded, "Sure am, where's my drink?" She laughed and handed me the bottle, "Aww, thank you,"
"No problem, I've got one more song then I'll call you up,"
"Sounds good,"
She smiled and walked away. I looked in the mirror and sighed, taking a large drink from the bottle. I looked in the mirror and smiled to myself as I listened to Carina finish her song. "Is it hot in here?"
"Yeah!" The crowd cheered.
"Well, we're planning on heating it up a set more!" The crowd cheered once again and Carina spoke again, "The one, the only, Halen Storm!"
I put the guitar strap over my shoulder and ran out on stage. I gave a little twirl and then walked up to the microphone with my fakest smile plastered on my face, "Well, hey there, District 12, did you miss me?"
"Yeah!" The crowd yelled.
"I bet you never expected to lay eyes on me again. And let me tell you, that goes both ways but I am back. I sure am back!" I spoke as the crowd cheered. "How about a song huh?"
"Yeah!" The crowd cheered.
I strummed a chord on the guitar, "Can't take my past, can't take my history. You can take my pa, but his name's a mystery. Nothing you could take from me was ever worth keeping. Oh, nothing you can take... was ever worth keeping," The beat started picking up as the covey added in more instruments. "Come on!" I called.
"Woah!" Someone in the crowd called.
I walked around the stage and put that fake smile back on my face. "Can't take my charm, can't take my humor, can't take my wealth 'cause it's just a rumor. Nothing you can take was ever worth keeping. No, nothing you can take was ever worth keeping." I looked around the crowd and enjoyed seeing everyone dance around, I continued looking around at the crowd. "Thinking you're so fine," I looked to my left and had to do a double take. There he was. Coriolanus Snow was standing by the back wall at the Covey show. My smile dropped and I completely missed my next line. He flashed a small smile and I shook my head, smiling back, and continuing the song, "Thinking you're in control, thinking you'll change me," I held his eye contact as I continued singing. "Maybe rearrange me, think again, if that's your goal. Can't take my sass, can't take my talking. You can kiss my ass, then keep on walking, nothing you can take was ever worth keeping." I stopped. Standing in front of me was Ivar with a chilling smile on his face.
"Halen Storm!" He called out. He was most definitely drunk and my smile fell, I rolled my eyes as I continued strumming my guitar. "You're looking rather miserable up there without me,"
Teagen was behind him yanking on his arm, "Ivar! Ivar, stop,"
"You all look miserable without me, you more than the rest, Halen." He called with a wink.
I scoffed and when he got up on the stage I backed away with a disgusted look on my face and stopped playing as did the rest of the Covey. Before he could get up all the way, Teagen grabbed his arm and yanked him down. "Ivar, you swore you'd never go back to her," She scolded. I looked over at Coriolanus and his eyes were fixed on Ivar.
Ivar shoved Teagen and the crowd wasn't going to allow that, there were some words shared between Ivar and a man next to him. Next thing I knew, there was pushing and shoving, "Settle down. Hey, settle down!" I called out.
It was no use to call that though because everything escalated and several different fights broke out. Ivar walked over to where I was and grabbed at my dress from where he stood on the ground. "I know you miss me, Halen,"
"You get your hands off me right now. Get your hands off me, Ivar! Get your hands off of me Ivar Caldwell. After what you did to me, you get your hands off me right now! I swear, if you don't let me go, I'll-"
I couldn't even finish my sentence, "Don't touch her!" A strong punch landed on Ivar's face. I looked up and it was Coriolanus. Ivar landed on his back from the punch but Coryo wasn't done. He repeatedly landed the punches right to his face and held Ivar down.
"Coryo, stop!" One of the peacekeepers called and grabbed onto him.
"Get off me, get off me!" Coriolanus yelled.
"What are you, crazy?" He questioned before dragging Coriolanus towards the exit. "Come on. We have to get out of here!"
I kept my eyes on Coryo who seemed to be trying to get back to me, I was then ushered away by Trenton and Castas. "Come on, Halen! We have to go!" Castas called. I nodded and went with them where we found Carina, Aurra, and Oriah. The six of us locked up our stuff and ran out of the warehouse. We went to my cabin just to lay low for the time being.
We caught our breath and made sure everyone was alright. "Halen, why did you miss some lyrics, was everything alright?" Carina asked and all eyes were on me.
"Yeah, just saw a ghost,"
"Would that ghost happen to be the guy that was beating the rest of the sense out of Ivar?" Castas asked.
I nodded, "That would be him,"
"Who is he?" Aurra asked with a smile.
I glanced at her, "He was my mentor for the Hunger Games. He's the only reason that I survived. He cheated to keep me alive, I don't know why he's here. I was told he would be taken to District 8, I was actually going to go there tomorrow to look for him, to make sure he was alright; but he's here."
"Well, you have to go find him, first thing in the morning," Carina said.
I smiled and nodded, "I will,"
The conversation didn't go much further than that. We each found a spot and fell asleep, I was the only one left awake and my mind was focused on Coriolanus, how was he here? Why was he here?
None of it mattered though, he was here, and I can't wait to find him in the morning.
