I groaned wearily as we walked along the sidewalk, taking long, heavy, and tired strides upon the concrete.

"School always beats the shit out of me man." I threw my head back with aggravation as I sighed loudly. "Yeah..." Pony trailed off as he brought his eyes to the ground, watching his steps closely. "Ya know it's not so much the learning part as it is the people there." I chuckled as I looked to Pony, him giving out a small smile in return.

A comfortable silence filled the air for a moment, surrounding us both as we continued to walk. "Are you the only one in the gang that goes to school?" I suddenly broke the silence with my question, furrowing my eyebrows as I looked to Pony. "Mostly..." He trailed off, moving his view to mine. "If you're lucky you may occasionally see Johnny or Two-Bit, but that's all." He laughed as he looked in front of us, now focusing on the road ahead.

I chuckled along with him as I also looked ahead, eager to see the gang, excluding Dallas. I wasn't so sure if I'd want to see him after last night's events. Not that they were horrible in any way, but they were slightly vexing, and seeing his annoyingly handsome appearance would only make the whole situation worse.

"Fold." Steve threw his playing cards to the table with a sigh before throwing his head to the palms of his hands with a hint of disappointment. I smirked as a I moved my eyes from his disgruntled expression to Sodas proud grin which he wore along with his arms crossed smugly. "I'll raise you..." I checked my pocket for more money, "two more bucks." I slid in two crumpled dollar bills, straightening them as much as possible.

"Oh..." He smiled as he looked to the increased pool of money, "we have a good hand, do we?" He now looked to me knowingly. "Perhaps." I smirked. "Will you two just get on with the damn game already?" Steve groaned before receiving a quick punch in the shoulder from Soda. I laughed at their seemingly immature acts, my white, amused smile adorning my cherry red stained lips.

Soda sat with hesitation for a moment, contemplating whether he should fold or match my bet. He brought his cards to his face, looking from them to the money in the center of the table. "Hmm..." He tapped the tips of his cards against his upper lip, still looking reluctant. I only began to grin more at his hesitation, assuming that I could possibly win the match.

Steve looked between Soda and I as he grew more aggravated, running his hands through his greasy mop of hair as he grumbled tiredly. "I can't do this." He suddenly stood up, causing me and Soda to both look to him with confusion. "You two are snails!" He pointed his finger in our faces, me and Soda both chuckling at him as he did so. He merely rolled his eyes as he began walking towards the kitchen. "I'm gonna get more cake." He muttered as he vanished to the other room.

"I'm not that slow." I mumbled, smiling as I took my sight back to Soda. "You are though. Are you gonna fold or what?" I challenged him, my attitude prideful and my face turned with an arrogant smirk as I placed my organized cards upside down on the table. "Fold." He sighed as he finally came to a decision, giving a small grin to me as I jumped from my chair joyfully, hurriedly slamming my face up cards in front of him.

"Straight flush!" I shouted happily, everyone in the house, all looking to me with a smile. "Thank you, kind sir, for giving me your money." I jokingly bowed to him while giving out a horrible British accent as I picked up my winning. "Six bucks. Not to shabby." I smacked the pile of cash against my hand. Soda shook his head with a grin, watching as I continued to count the money in front of him.

"Good job Y/n." Soda put out his hand for me to shake it. I laughed in breath and took his hand, shaking it quickly. "I know, thanks." I took my hand away, standing high and proud, my back as straight as a plank. "How much did ya win?" A familiar voice came close to me. I smiled as I looked to Johnny, his elbow resting upon my shoulder as he looked to me with a grin.

It had only been Soda, Darry, and Steve hanging out when Pony and I had first entered the house so I assumed that Johnny had just arrived or that I hadn't noticed him while playing poker. "Six bucks." I turned to him as I showed him the money. "Nice." He grinned. "How you doin Johnnycakes?" Soda greeted Johnny with a nudge in the shoulder and a ruffling of his shiny, jet black hair. "I'm alright." He shrugged, pushing his hair back to its original position.

"Whatcha got going on over here, huh?" The voice and accent of Dallas came near me, his annoying but attractive presence almost instantly creeping into my mind. I felt his stare move to my face as he leaned his shoulders on me and Johnnys shoulders. "Y/n here stole all my money." Soda spoke with a laugh as he pointed to me. I only stuck my tongue out at him mockingly with a grin, happy as I still counted my winnings.

"Hey uhh... I actually ran outta cigarettes so... can I have a dollar or two to buy another pack?" Dallas said in a joking manner while clicking his tongue. "Nope." I smiled at him jestingly before walking to the couch and sitting next to Pony who had his head stuffed in a book. "As always." I thought as the cushion sunk below me.
