The fierce cold nipped at my bare, goosebump coated legs. I wrapped myself tightly in my leather bomber jacket, making sure as to cover most of my skin from the frigid, prickling breeze.

Two-Bit strutted around comfortably beside me, his seemingly endless warmth protecting his completely naked arms from the frosty air. Dallas, who stood on the other side of me, struck his pockets with his clenched fists, his head hanging low and a blunt dangling from his numb looking lips.

The night was silent, as if it were only us in the dead roads of the insignificant town. Clouds had overcasted the skies, few stars actually appearing in the dark horizon. I looked to the full moon which was veiled with the wispy dark clouds, yet it still shined bright, like a light guiding us through the darkness. As if even though it were covered, it still wanted to provide us with comfort. I took in a breath of fresh air, satisfied in that moment.

"So... Where we goin', huh?" Two-Bit spoke up, breaking the comforting silence. Almost immediately, we both looked to Dallas, waiting patiently for an answer as to where we were headed. He grunted as he brought his cigarette from his mouth, blowing out a long line of smoke, the smell of tobacco sending me a warm satisfaction. "Let's go to Bucks, I'm in the mood for a good beer." He answered with a sigh, once again bringing his cancer stick back to his lips.

"You mean a good fuck?" I smirked in almost a challenging manner. Two-Bit burst into laughter at my joking, delighted by me as his fits of laughter only grew more with each passing second. "You know me too well Lee." He spoke quietly, laughing and shaking his head as he focused his eyes to the ground.

He clicked his tongue before looking up aimlessly, a smile appearing wide on his face as his stare suddenly landed upon mine. His dark, gleaming eyes were beautiful in the light of the night, enticing, alluring even. It was as if time stopped in that single, tiny moment, both of us locking eyes with a feeling of enchantment. The way he looked in that moment was so peculiar, yet beautiful.

It was suddenly amazing, yes. But it was annoying and aggravating at the same time. The fact I couldn't get away from this trap he set me in years ago killed me, and knowing that I never wanted to be involved with him only hurt me more. Truth is, I loved him still and I had yet to escape the feeling. "I can't." I thought. "I can't love the damn guy." I started rambling on about it in my head, slowly moving my stare away from his as his smile became dull.

"Actually..." I trailed off, avoiding eye contact with Dallas completely. "I gotta go home, I got school tomorrow." I kicked the ground lightly, mad at myself. Two-Bits laughter finally ceased after a while, looking to me with pleading eyes.

"Why? Since when did you care about school?" Dallas laughed dryly, his hands still deep in his pockets. "Since you left asshole." My voice grew louder as I looked to him harshly, my steps picking up pace with the gravel below my strides only getting more noisy. "Bye Two-Bit." I sighed as I walked off, shoving my hands in my pockets with anger.

I was more upset with myself than anything. I just had to get away from him before I got pulled into my feelings any further. It's odd to me how one little thing can change your whole perspective on a person, and Dallas did just that when he left.

He watched as she stomped away into the darkness of the night, her muttered curses fading off as she got even further away from the two confused boys. "What did you do Dallas?" Two-Bit hitched his thumbs around his belt loops, furrowing his eyebrows as he looked to Dallas who stood bewildered at her sudden anger. He still looked into the distance as she walked further away, his mouth agape as he began shaking his head, slowly moving his gaze to Two-Bit.

"I don't know." He shrugged, his statement loud as he grew even more baffled and tried to trace his own actions back to what he may have done wrong. "So..." Two-Bit merely continued walking, moving his hands from his belt loops to the seems of his jeans. "Am I missing some past 'rivalry' or something?" He smiled, walking backwards as Dallas began his strides to catch up to him.

Dallas only sighed, watching his feet as he kicked a pebble ahead of him. Two-Bit clicked his tongue as he turns back to Dallas's side. "Tell me man." He wrapped his arm around his shoulders, causing Dallas to look to him with hesitation. "Well..." He took a deep breath, throwing his head back with a groan of slight frustration. "We used to know each other in New York. She has an older brother that I hung out with and she was just this annoying little girl." He laughed. "But we were good friends. Turns out that she hates me now for no reason." He looked back to the dirt road.

"Girls... they sure are confusing." Two-Bit said in a joking tone. Dallas laughed, smiling as he looked to him. "They sure are Two." They continued their walk to Bucks, looking forward to a nightly routine of drinking and almost blacking out because of it.
