Kyllian didn't dare to open his eyes after he had fired the shotgun . He was too afraid to look at his own destruction. Only when Glenn shook his arm did he open his eyes because he knew it was over. He looked at the corpse sprawled on the floor across the room. He'd done that. It was a better sight than Levi had been after he'd died, there was a lot less blood. He'd stood too far away to rip the man to pieces, instead there was a scattering of many smaller bullet wounds. If Kyllian had only stood a couple of steps closer, it would have been a different story.
"Dude, you okay?" Glenn asked.
He scraped his throat. "Yeah, I just thought shooting someone would be... I don't know... More difficult."
"It's not if you have the right reasons, and we had it." Rick said, coldly.
"I'll appreciate it if we can go home now." Glenn hugged his shotgun close to his chest with the barrel pointed straight at the ceiling. He looked at the two dead bodies. He was scared. He was sure he wasn't made for this.
"Let's hurry back." Hershel agreed. "Beth still needs me."
Rick holstered his gun like nothing had happened, like he hadn't just murdered a man. "Yeah, we're going."
It was already dark outside. This was not what any of them had expected when they left the farm this afternoon. It was supposed to be quick and easy and now Kyllian was a stone cold murderer. This was the last thing he had wanted to happen.
"Kyllian, pat him down. He might have something we can use." Rick said, gesturing to the bar. He was talking about the body behind it, the one Rick had shot. It wasn't far away from him.
"You- You want me to touch a dead body?" He stuttered, blinking in disbelief. This was different from the walkers. These were people they had actually killed.
"Yes."
"It's not worse than what we've done. Moving the bodies from the barn and all." Glenn shrugged and moved past Kyllian. He crouched down and retrieved the gun and a couple of bullets. Despite his grand words his hands trembled.
It was finally time to leave and they moved towards the door. Rick grabbed the door handle and wanted to open it, but he pulled back. A light traveled past the curtained window. All four men hurried to hide themselves from the approaching cars. It pulled over a second later and they heard the car doors open and close.
"Dave? Tony?" A dampened voice asked from the street.
"They said they were here." Another insisted.
"I'm telling you man, I heard shots." A third voice said. That made three strangers right outside.
"I saw roamers two streets over. Might be more around." The first voice said. "We gotta get out of here."
"Dave! Tony!"
The men's shadows moved behind the curtains, creating dancing figures on the floor. Kyllian closed his eyes and tried to stay as still and quiet as possible. The strangers should move on quick enough as long as nothing attracted them inside. They were looking for their own people after all.
"What do we do?" He asked in a whisper. Once again he looked to Rick for an answer.
He put his finger in front of his lips and carefully peeked out to the street. Glenn and Hershel did the same.
"Why won't they leave?" Glenn asked in a pressed whisper.
"We can't sit here any longer." Rick whispered. "Let's head out the back and make a run for the car."
They agreed and began to make their way towards the back. They moved slowly and shakily. Gunfire rang out somewhere on the street and Kyllian pushed Glenn and Hershel out of the way from the window on instinct. None of the bullets shattered the glass; they weren't meant for them.
