The House of Emerald Serpents has been insanely chaotic the last two days. Pansy and Blaise had not been shy with the PDA which caused the rest of the house to moan and groan, annoyed at them. Astoria was around more often, sneaking around with Draco, even though no one really knew that except Elaine. That just added an extra person to the house.
Theo and Elaine pushed their first time turner test to today, making Theo stress more than he usually does. He was pacing while reading a page in his journal over and over again.
"Theo your head is going to explode if you keep reading that."
"I need to make sure this works, we're only going back an hour so it's not going to ruin much but if it doesn't work then we have to make a lot more adjustments."
Theo was scared of failing, it stems from how his father used to treat him. He also wanted nothing more than to see his mother again, and this was the only way. He was glad Elaine was there, she helped him stay calm.
"Alright, this should work. Come here," Theo calls Elaine over.
Theo puts the chain of the time turner around the two of them. He gives Elaine a reassuring look before spinning the time turner in the correct direction. There was a small gust of wind that blew past them, but then nothing happened.
"Fuck, it didn't work" Theo said getting frustrated.
"Maybe it did, where were we an hour ago?"
"In the kitchen?"
Theo let Elaine drag him into the kitchen, to see if their past selves were there. When they saw no one there, Theo groans.
"I can't do anything right," Theo says dramatically.
"Hey stop, it's a test Theo. It was also the first try I know you'll get it soon."
Theo sat down, running his hands trough his hair and then down his face. Elaine gently grabs his hands, taking then away from his eyes that he was about to rub.
"It's ok," she says kissing his knuckles gently. "We will figure it out, no need to stress. We have all the time in the world."
"I just want it all fixed and I'm sick of being a failure."
Elaine sighs, letting go of Theo's hands. She wishes he could see how amazing she thinks he is. He was so smart, loyal, attractive and surprisingly very sweet. She had begun to become very attached to him.
"How about we go visit Ralph later, he has his Halloween party today. I was going to go in for the end and take him back to the house, he's been asking to see where I live."
"I would love to see him, that'll distract me."
The next two hours Theo sat in his room and paced around until Elaine came to get him. When the two of them got to Ralphs class, the kids couldn't have been more excited to see them.
Ralph thought it was cool that his sister and friend Theo were practically celebrities' in his classroom. Elaine gave her younger brother a huge hug, which he happily returned. Theo greeted him with a little fist bump.
The Halloween festivities were still going on, and some of the kids were singing to the music that was playing lightly in the background. Theo smiled, looking around at everything. He had never experienced anything like this when he was younger. He hadn't had a real school experience until he got to Hogwarts his first year.
He remembered his first year well, he didn't talk much, earning him the title of the quiet kid. Draco knew he was a Nott so he sort of brought him into the group. He didn't really consider them friends until the very end of first year.
