The last few days Theo had been so hyper focused on getting his plan together, that he had barely spoke to anyone. He told Elaine what the two letters he read said but that's it. He was locked up in his room whenever he wasn't in classes.
The whole house was worried about him. Elaine brought in back up on this particular day. She brought Ralph over to the house. He immediately wanted to see Theo, so the siblings went upstairs to knock on the door.
"Yeah," Theo's voice calls from the other side of the closed door. Ralph barges in, running right to Theo.
"Whoa, hi bud. I didn't know you were coming today."
Ralph wraps him in a hug.
"Ralph and I are having a day at the park. We would love if you would join us."
Theo looks up at Elaine knowing that she wasn't asking him if he was going to come. She was telling him to.
"Yeah alright, I'll take a break. I haven't really been outside in like two weeks," He chuckles.
Theo puts his time turner around his neck carefully before getting up. Ralph follows behind him while he puts his shoes and jacket on. Elaine watches carefully. Theo was still the same around Ralph, with made Elaine feel slightly better about everything.
When they got to the park Ralph ran off to the swings while Elaine and Theo sat on the bench. There were a few other kids around Ralphs age that he had decided to play with.
"You haven't been my Theo these last two weeks."
"Your Theo?" he smirks.
Elaine blushes a little, "You know what I mean."
"I'm sorry, I've been trying to figure out an ethical plan. It's kind of hard."
"I know, you're still determined to do it?"
"Absolutely."
Elaine watched as Ralph kicked his feet up to get himself up on the swing. He was smiling ear to ear. It was super cold out, but Ralph didn't seem to mind.
"I don't want to talk about this right now, let's talk about something good," Theo says.
"We have a break coming up in," Elaine shrugs.
"I know. We're all staying at the house. Are you?"
"Most likely, I'll probably take Ralph to see mom on Christmas, but we'll stay at the house."
"You haven't heard from your mom?"
"No," Elaine shrugs. "I'm still mad her."
Theo nods but he doesn't fully get it. If his mom was still around, he would go visit her even if he was mad. He wanted to tell her that, but he didn't think it was the right time.
Ralph runs up to the two of them. He plants himself on Theo's lap.
"Sissy, can I have my hat? It's cold," he asks Elaine.
"Of course, Ralphie," Elaine reaches into her bag and pulls out a winter hat. Ralph hops off of Theo's lap and notices the chain around his neck, the one holding the time turner.
He grabs it while Theo was looking at his sister. Theo felt a slight tug and looked down to see Ralph twisting his time turner.
"Ralph no!"
Before he could change anything there was a flash of light and movements around Theo. Ralph and Elaine were gone, and he was alone on the bench. The park looked different. Older, one might say.
