On this bucket I sit and frown,
I look up and down the street.
All I see are my pitfalls.
Oh, I set this bucket down,
Before my stumbling feet.
And then I move a step further.
I go one foot further,
Further away from You,
Where my body's broken;
My lips scarred and bloodied;
My heart and lungs pumping sickness;
My body mucky and muddied;
Blood on my hand, stuck in the bleakness.
My body's broken.
Broken in these pitfalls.
Falling away from murder,
As I run through my pitfalls.
Help me to surrender
Oh, I need, my heart, to re-render.
I sow my own death in sobriety,
Then reap when I feel the drag.
Wonder if I have the gall
To make myself look up and surrender.
Lock into a fender bender.
Grow back into society
And toss it in the bag.
I wish I could leave all my pitfalls behind.
But I know I'm too blind, and so I'll never find;
My way out.
God, be my way out.
Out of my pitfalls.
