"Alex, stop! I can't run as fast as you can" The 13 year old boy yelled, trying to catch his breath. "Come on fatty!" Alex yelled back.

The slightly taller boy stuck his tongue out, and collapsed to the ground, the grass cushioning his fall. The ground sunk down beside him, as Alex had sat down with him. "Jack?" The shorter boy turned over to face his friend. Jack followed "Yeah?" He answered hesitantly. "We're gonna be best friends forever right?" Jack scoffed "Of course! Best bro's for life!" Alex smiled, "Best bro's for life!"

A moment of silence passed between the two of them. The younger boy repositioned himself so he was crouching close the the ground. "Tag you're it!" He screamed as he jumped up and began to run in the opposite direction. Alex stood up slowly. "Jack when will you learn that I am faster than you, and you will never beat me at tag?" He wiped the dirt off of His hands, "Besides aren't we a little too old for this?"

Jack stopped in his tracks and turned toward his best friend. "One does not simply become to old for a game of tag! Now come on fatty" he said mocking him. "I am not fat!" The caramel haired boy yelled as he began to chase his friend across the park.

The rest of that month was rainy and unpleasant. Jack and Alex had spent plenty of rainy days together, but not this month. The two of them were "busy" with their own plans.

Next thing you know it was December and Alex's birthday was coming up. Both boys had just entered high school that year, and it seems understandable if the two of the became somewhat distant, but for Alex and Jack it was almost too distant.

That year Alex held a party and invited Jack of course, but Alex seemed more interested in his new high school friends.

After that the two boys couldn't hang out without getting into some kind of argument. Whether it was over who got to use the computer first, or why Jack always stole Alex's clothes, someone ended up going home out of anger and/or frustration.

"Jack, I can't fucking take it anymore!" He screamed, the door knob in his hand. "You're too...you're too clingy!" Jack put his hand out. "Alex wai-" he was quickly cut off. "No Jack! I won't wait! Just leave me alone.." The older boy slammed the door behind him and ran home, whilst Jack stood there contemplating exactly what just happened to him.

Jack's phone buzzed at the table during dinner that night.

Alex: dude I'm sorry..

The raven haired boy waited 10 minutes before replying. He didn't want to seem "clingy".

Jack: whatever man

Alex: What do you mean "whatever man" ? I just freaking apologized to you!

Jack: yeah you did

Alex: Wow well then if you're going to be a douche about it.

"If I'm going to be a douche?!" He screamed and slammed his fork on the table. The wood underneath his and his mothers plate shook wildly. "Jack!" His mother yelled. Jack stood from his seat. "I'm sorry..." He then proceeded to throw his plate into the sink and run upstairs into his room.

Why is Alex being such a douche canoe? Ever since we started high school he's changed. No more daily hang outs or bedroom concerts.

*4 years earlier*

"It's alright!" Jack pointed over to Alex while jumping up and down on his bed, pretending to play guitar. The still shorter boy put his fist up to his mouth as if it were a microphone. "To tell me!" "What you think!" The raven haired boy jumped down next to his friend. "About me!" Alex screamed back over the music blaring in Jack's bedroom.

The two of them continued on through the song, jumping up and down and practically bouncing off the walls to their favorite blink-182 song at the time.

They sang together in unison. "AND IT'S HAPPENED ONCE AGAIN! YOU'LL TURN TO A FRIEND, SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, AND STICKS TO THE MASTER PLAN! BUT WHEN EVERYBODY'S GONE, AND I'VE BEEN HERE FOR TOO LONG, TO FACE THIS ON MY OWN WELL I GUESS THIS IS GROWING UP!" Jack dropped to his knees, playing the riff on his air guitar. "Well I guess this is growing up!" The two screamed before Alex had fallen on top of the taller boy.

They laughed for a moment or two and the song ended along with the whole CD. "Goodnight Baltimore!" Jack yelled. The older boy sat up and got off of his friend. "Best blink-182 concert ever!" Jack nodded in agreement. "We should totally start a band. I was playing this map on counter strike called Playground-X and thought that was an awesome band name!" Alex laughed. "Oh my god! That's awesome! We have to make band logos and everything! You have Microsoft paint on your computer right?"

Soon enough Jack and I totally stopped hanging out with each other. A lot of the time I forgot we were even friends once. And to think that that was 2 years ago.

((A/N This is like part one of the exposition of the story so yeah. I actually based this story on a friendship I had with someone. But we are friends again so yay! PLEASE COMMENT AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!!))
