[five. all the same]
"I CAN'T BELIEVE HIM!" Sejanus fumed on their way to the cafeteria. Cassia let him take his anger out but she truly felt sorry for him. He truly thought that he and Coriolanus shared the same ideals, the same morals, or at the least, that he truly cared about his tribute. Cassia didn't really know what Coriolanus' was thinking but surely she couldn't believe the tributes' survival was his top priority.
Remaining silent she sat on one of the tables but when she looked up she noticed Sejanus going the other way.
"Where are you going" She asked him confused
"I have to talk to Coriolanus." He mumbled but before he could take another step Cassia grabbed his arm.
"Look, I know you have faith in him but after what he said today..." The girl tried to be very careful with her words, not sure if he wanted to hear her "Wasn't it a little...too much?" She ended up saying, she didn't want to argue with Sejanus, especially over Snow.
"I know you don't like him but you don't know him, at least not like I do" Sejanus defended him, even now he defended him... Nonetheless, he took a seat across her once he saw the girl's troubled expression.
"I get that you know him better than anyone here but..." She wondered for a second if it was really worth it, ultimately deciding to continue "Snow is different. He is egocentric and overly ambitious and—"
"Just like everyone here" Sejanus cut her off, folding his arms defensively.
"But he is smarter. Way smarter than everyone else here and he has a way to make awful things sound...not so awful anymore..." The girl finished and her words held a cloud of uneasiness that even Sejanus could not shake away. He looked at her with thoughtful eyes and silence fell over them until the girl spoke again, gently placing her hand over his "What I'm trying to say is...Be careful." She gave him a reassuring smile and he answered with a smaller one.
He didn't speak, too busy drowning in his thoughts until he noticed Cassia collecting as much food as she could fit in a napkin, not sure what Treech would like.
"You're going to your tribute?" He asked when she finally hid the folded napkin in her pocket.
"Yes, you should come too. I bet your tribute is starving." She stood up but before she could take any step she heard Pup Harrington call out her name. When she turned he was already in front of her, was he waiting for her all this time?
"Can you give some food to Lamina too?" He asked her, seemingly uncomfortable about his request.
"Don't you think you should give it yourself?" Cassia answered as she looked at the food in his hands. If it was someone else she would probably just give in and take the food, but Pup had struck her as somewhat of a nice person, to her at least.
