Paintbrush's POV:
Did.... I just get kicked out of my own house for... giving an answer to a question? Seriously? That just seems unfair to me... I sat on the grass with tears in my eyes as I heard my dads last words to me: 'YOU'RE A DISAPPOINTMENT.'
I can't believe it. I wasn't dreaming or anything.... this was real? The grass felt much more rough than it usual did. I got up and started running as I heard the loud slam of the door. Where was I supposed to go? There's no way I'm going to the orphanage, I heard there's a really cruel owner, kinda like from the movie Annie! I ran around the neighborhood looking for someone to take me in for a bit, when I realized something.
No one would take me in! I'm an outcast. A freak! Everyone at school is disgusted by me. I have no friends, and I kinda like it that way, because then I have some free time to play video games, which I can't exactly do anymore. Then again it gets really lonely when I'm actually at school.
That's another thing... what do I do about school? I guess I could go still, but I'd have to walk... but wait? What about my stuff for school? It's back at my (used to be..) house! If I don't have my stuff, the teachers will get mad, and if they get mad, I'll have to tell them! If I tell them, they'll tell the counselor, and if they tell the counselor, she'll send me to the orphanage for sure!
"Ok, calm it Painty. That's enough of that. You just have to think about where you're going now." I said to myself. I kept jogging around my block, then got to a place I haven't passed by in years. Lightbulb's house. (Just to note, Paintbrush and Lightbulb in this story knew each other before the competition.)
Lightbulb and I had a bit of a history together. When we were little, about 5, we always played with each other. We flew little toy planes around her house and pretended to be searching for the Sugar Drop Princess. Her older adopted 8 year old sister, Sugar Drop, would always want to play the princess.
One day, when we were about 6, Lightbulb was dancing around the living room, trying to dance like her sister, who was almost like a professional. I wanted to try to, and so I mimicked what they were trying to do. I was really really bad at the time, and still am, and I accidentally tripped over Lightbulbs foot somehow and crash landed onto her favorite toy, her stuffed bear Fuzzy.
He was a tint of pink and had a white spot on its eye. I was holding my shoes, which had mini spikes onto the bottom to easily kill unwanted bugs in my house. When I fell, the shoe's small spikes hit the bears neck, and I rammed into the couch, which was next to me when I fell.
I started to slide down, and the shoe just cut open more of the bear's insides. Lightbulb screamed and started crying. "Oh my gawsh aw you okay?" I thought she was speaking to me, so I said back rubbing my head, "I'm just a bit hurt, thanks for ask-" Lightbulb yelled at me as loud as she could, "I HATE YOU NOW! I WASNT TALKING TO YOU, I WAS TALKING TO FUZZY! YOU CHOPPED OF HIS HEAD YOU MEANIE. YOU'RE JUST A BIG SMELLY BUTT MUNCH!"
I was hurt by that at the time and I responded while crying, "Im sowwy Bulby, I didn't mean it... I'm WEALLY sowwy for taking his head off of him." Lightbulb continued to cry and I just walked out of the house, and never went back since. I stared at the house, wondering what Lightbulb was like now. If she forgave me for what I did years ago. I just continued jogging, when I heard a noise come from the house. A head poked out from the door. It was Sugar Drop.
"Um, what were you, like, doing outside of our house, like staring? That's a bit, um, stalkerish don't ya think?" Man, she sounded like a normal 17 year old would. Stuck up. "Um, well, I was just... going for a jog, and I remembered you guys from when I used to play here sometimes."
Sugar Drop immediately dropped her jaw and shrieked. "Wait, Paintbrush? I remember you! You, like, used to save me from jet planes or something when we were little! How are you?" She ran out the door and gave me a tight hug. "Pretty... great! Yeah!" "You should totally come in! And maybe you and Lightbulb could hang out again!"
I beamed and responded, "Yeah, that be so great!" "Let's go!" She grabbed my hand and ran up to her front door. She opened it and the inside was a bit different than when I last remembered it. The white couch was replaced with a bigger brown couch, and all around were trophies and medals. Everywhere. Then suddenly Sugar Drop read my mind. "You're probably wondering where all these trophies and medals came from. I'm like a professional dancer now, and I'm kinda, like, famous. I always am at competitions and stuff, but this week I get a break!"
There were also huge mats around the floors and ballet and tap shoes surrounding them. "Would you wanna see a like routine?" I nodded and sat on the couch to watch. I didn't know what almost any of the moves were called, but they were outstanding. I didn't know an person could even bend and move that way! She finished the routine with a move I remember her always practicing when we were little, an aerial.
I clapped and stood up and hooted all around as she nailed it. "It was AMAZING! That was some of the best maneuvering I've ever seen!" She looked to the side and said, "Aww, thanks. But that wasn't my best. I messed up on my 3rd leap." Wasn't her best? "Wasn't your best? WOW! But that was amazing!" "I have high expectations to my dancing skills."
Sugar Drop brushed off her outfit and we heard someone coming down the stairs. "Hey, who is that? That voice sounds familiar to someone at school..." At the top of the stairs, was Lightbulb. She came down the stairs in her usual outfit. A yellow cut off shirt with a picture of a lightbulb on it with a black tang top underneath with jean shorts. She had her blonde hair in a bit of a messy pony tail.
"Hey, is that Paintbrush? Hey! I remember you when we were little!" I can't believe she remembered that so quickly! She barely got down a step! "Yeah! I just came over to say hi! I saw your sister and she was showing me her dancing routine." Lightbulb's ecstatic face turned into a bit of a frown her I said 'her sister'. "Oh.... cool. Hey, wanna hang out upstairs? It been a while since we've hung out, hasn't it?" "Sure! It really has!" "Let's go, Painty! Do you think it's ok with your parents?" I froze a bit, then shook it off. "Trust me, it's fine. Keep me as long as you want." "Awesome! Let's go!" Oh, and did I mention Lightbulb doesn't know about the whole no gender thing and thinks I'm a girl?
(A/N: Yay! I know not many people will read this but I'm gonna write it anyways! I don't care! So yeah, Sugar Drop kinda just popped into my head when I thought of princess. Tell me what you think in the comments! Continue? Naw? Last comment is a butt munch!)
