Roxanne stood in shock once she saw Richard entering the bar. As soon as the elder male stepped in he started searching for the young waitress. As much as the girl wanted to greet him the events of their first encounter showed up in her mind. She remembered how he avoided her to watch Lizzy's performance, how he was drooling over her. Roxanne decided that it was time to show ego and consider her acquaintances next time.
Richard on the other hand after his failed attempts to find Roxanne he sat at the remote from the crowd table like the previous time he visited the bar. Once a waitress approached him to take an order he asked:
"Is Roxanne here?"
The waitress nodded and pointed at the said woman. Richard then ordered a glass of whiskey and spoke again.
"Could you tell her to come sit with me?"
"I don't think she's very pleased to see you here sir" the waitress replied as she pointed once again at the annoyed girl who was now serving some customers.
"Its important. I need to talk to her" insisted Richard.
The waitress shrugged and went to call out for Roxanne.
Once she approached the young woman she tapped her shoulder. Roxanne turned around spontaneously catching her coworker by surprise. The young waitress then softened her expression.
"Sorry if I scared you. Its just that a certain someone's presence hasn't pleased me and its been a difficult day" apologized Roxanne.
The waitress nodded in acknowledgement before she spoke.
"I understand. Well that certain someone wants to see you".
Roxanne's eyes widened. She took a deep breath to keep herself from having an outburst on her colleague and then spoke.
"Tell him I have nothing to discuss with him" she replied sternly before turning around and walking towards the counter.
The waitress returned to Richard's table with his whiskey and the bad news of Roxanne's rejection. Once the male saw her approaching he didn't miss a chance to ask her what happened.
"So how did it go? Will she come?"
The waitress shook her head. Richard sighed and ordered the woman to speak again to Roxanne. At first she denied but she quickly accepted once Richard threatened to take out his gun. The poor lady went off to find her colleague again.
Roxanne wasn't pleased with the second appearance of her fellow waitress.
"Did he ask you to tell me to go sit with him again?" The girl asked while she looked at her colleague with a ranged expression.
"Yes he did" the waitress sighed. "Why don't you give him a chance? Is it because of that singer?"
Roxanne thought before she answered.
"So what if it is!? Its none of your business!" She replied with an angry tone.
"Look, just because you were hurt in the past it doesn't mean that you can't give anyone else a chance" said the waitress.
Roxanne's eyes widened once again.
"What are you implying?"
The waitress thought of her words a bit before she spoke.
"You think I haven't noticed what's going on? Admit it Roxy you have feelings for him. Don't you dare deny it! Since your first encounter you've been talking about him endlessly and I saw the jealousy in your eyes while he was staring at the singer that day!"
Roxanne didn't answer. Instead she let out a 'hmph' sound and went back to work. That's when her friend and coworker decided that it was pointless trying to convince her.
As expected Richard wasn't pleased with Roxanne's second rejection. Once he finished his drink he got up and approached the girl. Roxanne noticed it and attempted to walk away. Unfortunately for her Richard gripped her wrist.
"Are you going to ignore me for a long time?" He asked the girl in a slightly irritated tone.
Roxanne kept her attempts to break free but they turned out useless.
"Answer!" Yelled Richard.
The young woman gave up on trying to escape but didn't bother to look at the taller male.
"Look at me" the man commanded and gripped her chin.
The girl tried to resist his attempts to turn her head to face him but she gave up once his grip on her chin was becoming stronger.
"What do you want?" She ended up asking.
"Why do you keep ignoring me?" Asked Richard refusing to remove his hand from Roxanne's chin. "Is it because of I was looking at that girl instead of you?"
Roxanne didn't answer immediately. She seemed to be thinking of her words carefully.
"So what!?" She finally said.
Just then the lights in the bar dimmed. Soft music started playing and that's when the singer of the bar, Lizzie, appeared on stage. The song was soft and romantic. Roxanne sighed in defeat knowing that once again the man she started having feelings for would be mesmerized by the singer once again. This time though Richard didn't stay watching the performance. Instead he extended his hand to Roxanne.
"Shall we dance?" He asked.
After some time of thinking the young woman giggled and took his hand.
Soon they started dancing to the beautiful song. A lot of other couples joined them as well but they didn't care. It was as if the world was around them and them only.
"So say, why did you ignore me?" Richard asked softly while they were dancing.
"Isn't it clear? I was jealous" replied Roxanne with the same soft voice.
Richard chuckled and then spoke in a soothing tone.
"Is that so? I didn't expect a girl with a moral compass fall for a mere mafioso like me".
Roxanne blushed.
"Come on I haven't fallen for you!"
Richard who seemed to enjoy the girl's reaction while he was teasing her chuckled again before he spoke.
"Things say completely otherwise" he winked.
Richard and Roxanne danced the song till the end ignoring Lizzy's growling at the end.
As it was time for the closing of the bar and the last customers had already left Richard approached Roxanne again. The young waitress was cleaning the counter when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She immediately turned around only for her teal eyes to meet Richard's dark brown ones.
"May I help you?" The girl asked.
"How about we go on a date one day?"
