It was a lovely morning. Lizzy was sitting at a table of a cafe in a remote and quiet area above the city. She was enjoying her latte and the view of the nature while she waited for her husband to arrive. Max had promised her that he would explain to her his 'destruction plan' another day in a quiet place without interruptions or someone to eavesdrop their conversation, hence their morning meeting to the certain cafe.
She didn't have to wait any longer. As soon as she took the first sip of her coffee she saw Max approaching.
"Good morning" Max greeted his wife as he took a seat at the opposite side of the table.
"Good to see that you're not late this time" replied Lizzy in a nonchalant tone.
Max said nothing more given the fact that he's used to his wife's 'cold' treatment. Instead he just signaled the waitress and ordered a freddo cappuccino.
There was a fairly big moment of silence between the spouces. Lizzy then decided to break the ice.
"You said you were going to talk to me about your plan".
Max who was lost in thought shook his head.
"Ah yeah" he said coldly.
There was another moment of silence when Lizzy spoke once again.
"You said I'll have to seduce Richard".
"Indeed" replied Max.
"So? How do I do that?" Asked Lizzy.
"Simple. In your own unique way. You're the singer at the bar right? With a bit of your voice, a bit of your moves, a bit of your body, everything will be a success" answered Max. "But first we'll have to confirm that he's in a relationship with Roxanne".
"And how will we do that?" Asked Lizzy again.
"How about we play a little game of 'I spy'?" Replied Max with a mischievous smirk.
"So you want me to spy on them?"
"Precisely" said Max as he took a sip from his coffee.
Lizzy did the same.
Just then two familiar faces arrived at the cafe. They were no one else than Richard and Roxane. The young lovers sat some tables away from Max and Lizzy.
"Well well well. Look what the cat dragged back in" said Max with a malicious smirk.
Lizzy turned her face only for her eyes to fall on Richard who was pecking Roxanne's cheek. She growled in jealousy.
"I can't believe they're already on a second date!" Lizzy growled yet again.
Max put his hand above hers.
"Relax darling. Why don't we start this little 'I spy' game?" He suggested with the same malicious smirk.
His wife nodded and soon she wore a mischievous smirk on her rosy lips.
The young lovers at the other table ordered their drinks and enjoyed the view of the cafe and the nature around them as they joked around, shared more things about themselves and had casual conversations. Even if Richard was a wanted criminal Roxanne felt more and more comfortable around him with every date they had.
"I can't believe that we're already on a second date!" Roxanne spoke first as she took a sip from her orange juice.
"Consider yourself lucky. I'd say our relationship is one of those that are meant to be" Richard winked at her.
"That clicé stuff won't get old will it?" Giggled Roxanne.
Richard replied with a cheerful 'nope' the 'p' popping.
Richard and Roxanne were enjoying themselves at their date until Richard's eyes fell upon a familiar to him face. His usual calm demeanor change into one of shock and fear. His shiny brown eyes were wide and he felt cold sweat running all over his body as he saw the familiar black hair and expressionless face of his rival, Max. He gulped. Just then Roxanne noticed the change in Richard's aura.
"Is something wrong baby?" She asked.
Richard continued gazing to the table where Max was sitting at.
"Richard? Hello" Roxanne's voice was enough to snap the male out of his thoughts.
"I'm sorry. Um... We need to leave" he said quickly.
"Why? We're having so much fun here" the young woman was confused.
"I'll tell you later" said RIchard and without a second thought he paid for the drinks and grabbed Roxanne's wrist.
Max in the other hand turned to face his wife again.
"I spy with my little eye... Someone who traumatized me 7 years ago..." He implied. "He's none other than that bastard Richard Lawrence".
"I get what I have to do" said Lizzy and stood up from the table leaving Max with his meanancing smirk.
In the meantime Richard and Roxanne were already enough meters away from the cafe. Richard was still pulling the girl from her wrist.
"Can you explain why we left?" Asked Roxanne who got slightly irritated by her companion's behavior.
"Its none of your business" the male replied coldly.
Roxanne stopped on her tracks making Richard stop suddenly.
"And why not!?" She asked again.
"Look, this is dangerous" replied Richard and then he let out a sigh of frustration and worry. "There was someone in the cafe... Who I happen to know... And things didn't start off well between us... I don't want you to get involved".
"Can I at least know his name? I must be aware don't you think?" Insisted Roxanne.
Richard didn't speak for a bit. Then he answered:
"Maximus Rider. The leader of a rival mafia family".
Roxanne gasped in disbelief.
"Max!? The owner of the bar!?"
Richard's eyes widened again.
"The owner of the bar you said?"
Roxanne nodded and that's when Richard realized how much of a huge mistake he did when he stepped into the bar Roxanne worked at and how stupid he was to not raise his guard once he learned the name of the singer.
"Of course... Lizzy is his wife..."
