Rain. It was raining. It was about half past eleven when Richard Lawrence was done with his last mission for the day. He dealt with some paperwork and immediately stood up from his chair. He stretched his arms and legs and checked the time. He sighed. After letting out a series of complaints about his job as always he packed his things and grabbed his coat. He exited his luxurious office and headed towards the elevator. Once the automatic doors opened he got in, he pushed a button and let the elevator descend him to the ground floor. Once he got out and approached the main entrance he saw the dark clouds covering the night sky and noticed the heavy raindrops falling on the soaked ground. He let out a grunt of annoyance.
"Damn it! Its raining cats and dogs and I don't even have an umbrella with me!" He complained
Richard pulled his coat so it could cover his head and without a second thought he rushed out of the building.
Richard was now running in the wet streets in fury and irritation. His clothes were getting more and more soaked with each raindrop falling on them. Due to the darkness of the rainy night he couldn't watch out for the pits he was stepping on causing the water inside them splash all over him which only added to his frustration.
After a long (which seemed like an eternity to Richard) hour of wandering he found safety under the shed of a bar somewhere in the center of the city. Since the rain didn't seem like stopping anytime soon he entered the bar.
As expected it was crowded with every type of drunkard. From young men with a lack of brain to middle-aged men without a moral compass. He also came across a couple of women which he assumed were prostitutes. He sat at a remote from the crowd table and ordered a glass of hard liquor.
As he was sat there, at that lonely table, his attention was caught by a certain waitress. She had long dark brown hair, almost to the shade of chocolate and her eyes were a shiny teal color. Her skin was pale like porcelain which highlighted her rosy cheeks and a few freckles on her upper cheeks. Richard assumed that the girl was in her early twenties since she looked too young for her own good. What didn't go unnoticed by him was the fact that she seemed to be dear among the customers in the bar especially males.
"She must be very popular" he thought.
The girl started approaching Richard (at least he thought so) but she ended up serving some customers at the table next to his. He watched each and every of her move as he took a sip from his drink. The young waitress' moves were elegant and full of energy. No wonder she was preferred by her customers.
As she was about to lay down the drinks on the table next to she tripped and she accidentally spilled the margaritas on Richard's suit.
"What the-" Richard yelled as he immediately stood up from his seat.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry!" The girl apologized with an expression of shock.
"Watch out mademoiselle!" Richard yelled at the girl.
"I apologize deeply sir. Let me help you clean yourself up" the waitress apologized again as she grabbed a napkin and attempted to clean Richard's suit.
"Don't touch me with your filthy hands!" Richard yelled yet again leaving the young woman in a state of shock.
"I'm sorry sir I'm just trying to help you" the poor girl tried to explain.
"Just go back to work and let me handle this" Richard ended up saying with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
The girl nodded and went back to work leaving the frustrated man deal with his destroyed suit.
Some minutes after this incident and as Richard was trying his best to enjoy his drink without any further interruptions he heard yelling coming from the crowded area in the bar. He turned towards the corner it was coming from and soon his gaze fell upon a drunkard who had a good grip on the waitress' from earlier arm and was desperately trying to get the poor girl's phone number while she was crying for help. Even if he was still annoyed with the previous incident he couldn't let this happen. He stood up and approached the scene.
Richard slipped through the crowd easily and reached the place where the new incident was taking place. Once he arrived he pushed the drunkard away making him lose his grasp on the girl's arm.
"What on earth do you think you're doing?" He asked the drunkard with a hint of anger in his voice.
"What does it seem I'm doing? I'm trying to gain that cutie's phone number" replied the drunkard.
"Does the lady seem like she wants to give you her phone number?" Richard asked again the drunkard his impatience growing.
"She'll give it to me whether she wants or not!" The drunkard seemed to insist.
Richard clicked his tongue in a mocking manner.
"Listen up, leave the young lady alone or things won't end up well for any of us" he threatened.
The drunkard laughed sarcastically.
"And who are you to tell me that? As if I'll fear you!" He insisted.
Richard grabbed the drunkard by the collar of his shirt.
"Trust me you filthy pig. I'm someone you don't want to mess up with" he was now gazing in the drunkard's eyes as if he was reading through his soul.
The drunkard saw the range in Richard's eyes and without a second thought he escaped his grasp and ran away.
After he was done Richard turned to the young waitress who was staring in awe the scene between him and the drunkard.
"Are you okay miss?" Asked Richard with a soft tone full of concern
"Yeah" replied the girl. "You're the man whom I spilled margarita on"
"Don't think about that now. As much as I hated that I couldn't let that filthy pig assault you" Richard reassured the girl.
"Please sir let me at least take it and wash it for you" the young woman offered.
Richard though about it and he then took off his suit and handed it to the waitress. The girl received it happily.
"So, may I know the name of my savior?" Asked the girl.
"Richard Lawrence. You?" Said Richard.
"Roxanne. Roxanne McCathy".
