Legends and Hearsay

The foursome arrived back at the Boarding House all a little spooked by what they had seen of Elijah.

"How do we fight against someone we can't kill?" Elena asks her voice sounding small and afraid.

Stefan hugged her close to him trying his best to offer her comfort.

"For starters, I'd transfer the deed to this house to a human, it would certainly help if he couldn't waltz right in and kill us all in our sleep," Rose says.

"That's not helping," Stefan tells her.

"No, she's right, I'll call the lawyer, we need to transfer this place to Elena asap," Damon says.

"Me?" Elena asks a little surprised.

"Who else? You think I'm trusting Jeremy with home ownership at 15?" Damon asks making a decent point.

Once Damon gets up to make the call Elena looks back to Rose, "I'm sorry about your friend," she tells her.

Rose smiles kindly at her, "It's not your fault but thank you," she says.

Here she had kidnapped this girl even if she didn't remember actually doing it and she was trying to sympathize with her loss.

Damon walks back in, "Alright he's gonna stop by tomorrow, first thing, until then maybe Stefan and I take shifts sleeping tonight just in case," Damon suggests.

"I'll stay up as well," Rose says.

"Don't think I'm gonna be able to sleep much either," Elena says.

"Hmm, sounds like we have the makings of one hell of a slumber party, should I break out the feather pillows and lingerie or should we save that for later?" Damon asks trying to lighten the vibe.

"Is there anything more you can tell us," Stefan asks Rose ignoring Damon's inappropriate comments.

"What do you want to know?" Rose asks.

"Start from the beginning, no detail is too small, if we're gonna stand a chance we need to know as much as possible about Elijah and the Originals," Stefan says.

"Alright, but a lot of what I know is mixed in with legends and hearsay," Rose explains.

"It's alright, anything you can tell us," Elena says implying they'll be grateful for any information she can bestow.

"Well I don't know about you lot but I have a feeling I'm gonna need a drink for this bedtime story, anyone else?" Damon asks and Rose quickly raises her hand which amuses Damon.

Walking over to the bar cart Damon pours Rose a glass of bourbon and ends up just bringing over the whole rest of the bottle for himself.

"The Originals are all about 1,000 years old, they are the first vampires ever created. Turned in a ritual created by the Original witch, their mother," Rose explains reaching out to take the glass of rich amber liquid from Damon.

"Mother as in..." Stefan asks.

"As in mother," Rose answers after taking a generous sip of her stiff beverage.

"So they were a normal human family once? When you said family before I guess I was thinking more along the lines of the mob," Elena says.

"I suppose that definition of family also suits them but originally the Original witch turned her children because her youngest died, I think it was due to a werewolf, and fearing for the rest of her brood she created a spell to make them stronger, faster, deadlier, so she wouldn't have to know the pain of losing another one again," Rose explains.
