3rd Person POV:

Damon broke his car window and swam to shore checking his pockets for his flasks once on land.

The one he had in the back pocket of his jeans must have fallen out and he was left with only the one in his inside jacket pocket.

He looked back to the dark waters and thought about jumping in to find the other flask but he didn't know if he had that kind of time left to waste any going flask fishing.

He tried calling Stefan to ask, but his phone was damaged by the water and would probably need to be submerged in tub of rice overnight before it started working properly again.

Deciding one would have to be enough he left the scene of his drowning car and raced back on foot to the Boarding House.

Once he got there he tried racing upstairs but Stefan stopped him.

"What, what is it? Am I too late?" he asks starting to panic.

"No, but..."

"But what? Stefan, I need to get up there!" Damon yells losing his patience with his brother.

"It might not be her up there," Stefan warns him.

"What the hell does that mean?" Damon asks.

"Sometimes she recognizes us and sometimes she doesn't... and the times she doesn't it's like she's not even her anymore," he tries to explain so Damon is prepared.

"Because she's sick Stefan, she needs this," Damon exclaims taking out the flask from inside his jacket but when he holds it up he sees a hole puncture in it he hadn't noticed before.

"No," he says dread bubbling up as he grabs a glass from the bar cart to pour out its contents.

It's a little bit of blood mixed in with a lot of gross lake water.

"No, no, no, Bonnie... we need Bonnie, maybe she can separate them," he says and Stefan nods already dialing her on his phone.

Bonnie comes over straight away and is able to magically separate the blood from the lake water, however, it's not much more than half a vial full that's still viable.

She passes it to Damon and Damon looks to his brother, "What if it's not enough Stefan?" he asks once again feeling helpless.

"I should go back to the lake... the other flask, maybe it's in better condition, I lost it as I was swimming out of the car," he explains.

"I'll go," Stefan offers, "I'll go and look for it but... you can't leave again Damon, she needs you here."

Damon shakes his head, "No, you give her this and I'll go back to the lake," he says trying to leave again but Stefan stops him.

"I can't let you do that," he tells his brother.

"Who's to say you have a choice, Stefan?" Damon tells him knowing he's stronger.

"She might not have that kind of time left, and you will regret it every day of your existence if you leave now, go give her what you have... just buy me an hour, I'll bring the other flask back, I promise," Stefan tells him.

"We were supposed to have more time than this," Damon says.

"I know," Stefan tells him.

"1 month. That can't be all I get with her, 1 damn month... we were with Katherine for longer, it's not fair, this isn't fair! I mean what if this is all I get? A few weeks of happiness only to have it all ripped away?" Damon complains the reality of the situation finally hitting him.
