Dan felt a Deja-vu when he woke up to beeping noises and a throbbing pain in his head. He looked around, trying to make out where he was lying down. The bed he was in wasn't on ground level anymore, and everything was so bright. His waist didn't hurt the way it did before he passed out the last time when someone was tending to his wound. He moved his head to the door once it opened, feeling his forehead being pulled with cables as Min-Jun walked in, followed by the female doctor from last time who still covered her face with a facemask again.
―Kim Dan, you're finally awake!
The physical therapist looked around him in confusion. Did he died? Is this a mirage? Why is Min-Jun right in front of him? Where is Jaekyung? His eyes widened, trying to sit up only to be stopped by an uncomfortable sensation in his abdomen. The doctor helped him lay down again, checking his vitals as soon as the doctor remained still.
―What...? Am I dead? Am I dreaming?
―You're alive, Kim Dan. Alive and back home, had I found you an hour later you wouldn't've survived.
―Where am I? Where is Jaekyung?
Min-Jun pursed his lips, switching his eyes from the doctor to Dan as he prepared to answer. Dan has been unconscious ever since they got back to their present and he was intervened by medical professionals, and that was ten days ago. That should've been more than enough time to prepare an answer but being perfectly candid, he was blank.
―You're right where it all started and Jaekyung is where he belongs in Joseon.
His heart beat strongly, alerting the doctor and the monitor. Dan looked at Min-Jun as tears hurled up in his eyes. He gulped, trying to not pass out again as Min-Jun kept talking while the doctor handled the medical situation.
―You were stabbed with a poisoned knife, bringing you back was the only option to save you...
―I need to go back, he... he and I...
―I know. He told me, not everything but enough. Dan, I need you to remain calm because what I'm going to tell you is...
―I need to go back!
―If you do you'd experience permanent brain damage. ―The doctor interrupted, looking at him. ―We've been studying your brain since you came back to make sure it didn't suffer any kind of damage with the trips and the long time you spent there. Just a few days in the past gave some soldiers temporary amnesia and you already spent two months there. So far we haven't found any kind of abnormality, but we're not taking any chances.
―But...
―Dan, you already made enough changes in the past to go back again.
―But I didn't went where I was supposed to, how...?
Both the doctor and Min-Jun looked at each other and then at Dan.
―The Joo clan is alive and well, they're actually a very powerful family nowadays. Government officials, businessmen, actresses and actors, world champions in sports; they'll never know it was because of you, but...
―What do you mean with that? Jaekyung was the only one with the surname and he...
―A lot of things happened once you left because... hold on. We did our research once we saw the change, I must have it around...
―What change?
Min-Jun took out his phone, typing something on it as he looked at the doctors in front of him. He kept on looking for something, clicking his tongue as he found what he was searching for. Once he did, he started reading the pages of a book he found online.
