chapter four:
*in case the song doesn't work on mobile it's : Homesick - Catfish and The Bottlemen*
Carter had somehow managed to convince me to accompany him on a walk. So now instead of my usual route home, we were aimlessly walking around town. The sun was high in the sky, but there was breeze still, so I didn't have much to complain about.
"Shall we go to the beach?"
I looked over at Carter. "Uh, I guess?"
I found it kind of random to all of a sudden go to the beach, but I just shrugged my shoulders and continued to follow him. It took us about ten minutes before I was ripping off my shoes and running into the sand.
I'm sure it seemed childish but I couldn't help it. The beach was another place for me to escape from everything. The sound of the calming waves crashing against the soft sand. It just made me feel at ease. Per usual, it wasn't very crowded considering it was a hidden beach of sorts.
Unlike the others around town, it wasn't as big and beautiful so to say.
However I didn't find anything wrong with this beach. It was quiet and calming, the less people the more better the scenery around me was.
"I take it you like beaches?" Carter hollered from behind me.
I turned around to see him sliding down the sand towards me, I nodded rapidly.
"I do. I do indeed."
I took a seat in the sand and he followed suit, sitting beside me. He leaned back on the palms of his hands and peered over at me.
"Carter?"
"Hmmm?"
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
He shrugged his shoulders.
"You still haven't told me anything about yourself."
I waved him off. "There really isn't anything interesting to tell."
I crossed my legs beneath me, and turned so I was facing him.
"I really do not see why you're so obsessed with me."
He rolled his eyes at my fake tone. "Ha ha, very funny. No I'm serious I know nothing about you other than your name and that you're Evan's sister."
I nodded. "That's all you really need to know!"
He scowled flicking my knee, I flicked him back in the arm.
"Don't be rude!"
He shook his head, a small smile tugging at his lips. It was weird to think that I had never conversed with Carter before. He had been over a the house once or twice before, for parties of course.
I'd seen him in the halls at school, though I was almost sure he was supposed to be done by now. The boy wasn't someone you could just miss in a crowd.
His blue eyes were mesmerizing, like they would hold you in a trance, getting lost in the ocean colour.
"Eve?"
I snapped out of my daze and looked out at the ocean, trying to hide the fact that I had been bluntly just letting my eyes roam all over him.
"Okay so we'll ignore the fact that you just stared at me for ten minutes straight without saying anything then?"
I swung my gaze over to him once more.
"It was not ten minutes!" I scoffed rolling my eyes, making him chuckle.
